Remarkable. Great blues-country jazz mix and the kind of stunning vocal rendition that Shelby Lynne seems to be able to pull out of her pocket almost as an aside. She is one of the legends.

Someone is going to stumble on to this fifty years from now and be blown away, just like we were. I can’t help thinking of a corner table in a dimly lighted saloon and asking a stranger to dance, and they say “sure why not.” And from there romance and a life together begins. Hopelessly romantic? This is your song, your singer, and a fascinating performance by all. Thanks for posting this classic art.

I’m a musician. The smile on the face of the violinist as he starts his solo- is the smile you make when you just heard magic. That note should alone get her in the hall of fame.

This woman sings with an incredible amount of depth in her expressiveness. Wow! And always on pitch. Every time I run across a song from her that I haven't heard, I'm continually impressed. As a musician, one of the best compliments I've had was that I played (guitar) with feeling. This woman has a lot of feeling. I saw her on Live From Daryl's House a few years ago, blew me away, especially Leavin' and Bend.

Wow! What a voice. What a woman. Sometimes she's country, sometimes she's something else, and you never know what you're going to get, but it's always fantastic. Highly underrated.

Perfect arrangement. Perfect phrasing. Perfect fiddle and pedal steel. Perfect song and lyric. From a woman who has produced a great body of wonderful music, I don't believe this has ever been surpassed. If she had only done the great american songbook at this point in her career as well....Thanks Shelby.

I cannot recall the first time I heard Ms Lynne, believe it was when working near Monroeville AL but have been listening to her for about 30 years. "Tell Me I'm Crazy" is just an amazing song that she does so well..... and I love to dance with my wife to. Would love to see you in Toronto again Shelby.....

This is one of the best albums that Shelby did, I think. She has wonderful songs on all of her albums, however, her voice is at all all time high here-superb! I love the tone, the depth and how she gives her emotion.

Why this song wasn't played in heavy rotation when it was released as a single is beyond my comprehension. Shelby, her sister Allison Moorer, Suzy Bogguss and Lari White are easily the four most underrated women in the music industry.

Her voice is just amazing- how I wish she had more mainstream success. I'm sure she's pretty happy with the career she's had . There seems such longing and sadness in her voice that it breaks my heart at times. Ive read several recent articles about her and she seems very angry and defensive-especially when asked about her private life. Fascinating woman.

Susan Griffin her father killed her mother and then committed suicide sometime in 1989. there is a segment on you tube where she is interviewed and is supposedly over the tragedy. yet, everyone can still see the pain and distance in her eyes. she mentioned that there is that lost feeling because your roots are gone, that genetic link that is inseperable and without which we lose our anchor regardless.

painter luke Their father got into an argument with either Allison or Shelby. They'd moved to Alabama because they were working on a trio act and were trying to escape his drunken rages. When she went outside to intervene, he took a shot gun out of his truck killed her and then turned it on himself while a helpless Shelby and Allison could only stand there and watch the horror as it unfolded..

wonder what Shelby thinks of those 2 releases - "Temptation" and "Restless" ???? as a major fan- love both and so many great songs - but she never does any of them in concert ??? these are releases to be proud of and admired- this lady can sing the menu at a mcdonalds - and make it sexy, sultry and interesting - do not miss the chance to see her live- I wised up too late - and missed concerts like her doing this song- so cool to see it posted here

in her earlier years she was the best interpreter of ballads. on Temptation it is as if every song was sung by someone else. never tire of her earlier songs such as this and with George Jones and Willie Nelson. better than the screamers we call singers now a days

Gurlsingerfan is spot on - SL tosses performances like this off with such nonchalance it's almost frightening. I wouldn't be surprised if she was actually thinking about whether to have red wine or white wine after the show rather than the song itself, such is her total control. Much as I enjoy following her crazy career, part of me wishes she'd stuck to this cheesy mainstream stuff just so I could hear more of her stunning voice in these settings.
@michaelh012914 жыл бұрын

her parents dying in a tragic way they did, the father killing the mother and self in front of her and her sister is going to subconsciously affect her. much like a young man I know who after his father's suicide would walk with his head down, looking at the ground, wondering if he could find his dad. I often wish she would have kept singing songs like this and the not too well known song 'Here We Are" the last song on her Temptation Album. but, I think something deeper is and was going on where she could not do 'traditonal' or what everyone else liked kind of music. a person doesn't totally resolve issues she went through
