Awesome video, Shelby! I always enjoy learning how much other KZbinrs make. And then I cry, because my niche is historically a lower CPM niche, lol. Time of year is huge for ad revenue as well. Companies gearing up for the 4th quarter with Black Friday and Christmas have more in their advertising budget because they are looking to sell more products. I always love the 4th quarter! haha

My other channel, with far less subs, has about double the RPM so around $14 but again it depends on the time of year, right now is the highest time of year for RPMs

yeah I don't get it.. chrome is going to start banning ads that do things people hate like interrupting the video to show an ad in the middle - but would they actually do that to youtube? They are the second most annoying ads after the nearly hour long skippable ads (I believe the longest I encountered was 48 minutes but then it started to play it constantly)

Hey Myles! I would suggest starting out by not worrying about making an income and doing something you are passionate about and enjoy. It will allow you to experiment to find out what works. Once you have a certain threshold of subscribers, then you can monetize your KZbin channel. Shelby mentioned certain types of content earn more ad revenue. May be worth doing some research. I hear Skillshare has classes to help with that. :D

Shelby congrats on growing your channel so much in the past year! If I had one piece of advice, I would HIGHLY encourage you to not be tempted to spend a lot more just because you make more. You are clearly intelligent and creative so although I am sure you will be successful in life, you never know how long success on KZbin itself will last. I'd recommend you save as much as you can now and invest in things like index funds, bonds, and real estate to ensure long term financial stability. I'm sure you know all this already but I've seen too many people go broke after short-term success and I want you to be as secure as you can be. Love your videos, keep going!!

Love the video, I’ve been watching your channel for YEARS!! ❤️ But just to clarify, that’s not exactly how tax brackets work. Being in the 24% tax bracket (in Cali) you pay $14,382 in taxes from the first $84,200 of income and then pay 24% of the rest ($140,000-$84200). So you end up paying about $27,773.50 in taxes, not $33,600. Which is still A LOT of money regardless. Sorry, I’m an accounting and finance major and I love talking about this stuff. Great video!! Edit: this isn’t considering any standard or itemized deductions she could have since 1) don’t know which she used and how much she could’ve deducted if she itemized and 2) I’m just trying to explain how the brackets themselves work. Also, this is only considering state taxes since that is what she was trying to explain in the video

New fan and loving your content! Just wondered if you've ever heard backlash from anyone about filming in front of your 'animal print' wallpaper? It doesn't bother me at all, but I have a friend who has a sort of unique form of synesthesia where clusters like the dots on your wallpaper make them itch, or feel ill...and they had to leave the room when I was trying to show them how cool and informative your videos were. I wonder if you ever analyzed statistics on any of the videos filmed in front of the wall? Anyway, it's not stopping me... thanks for the really interesting information!

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen any of your videos, but for some reason this was in my recommendation. With that being said, I completely respect your honesty, and you explain this so well. I didn’t realize exactly how the ad process works, and that the content creator has as much control. Thanks for explaining this. Btw, I have no plans to make any content on YT, but interesting none the less.
