It’s such an old recipe that was formed at a time when it was a pinch of this and that. I crafted it to taste like what I remembered from my childhood. It’s good tho. 👍🏽

Hi Erica and thanks for joining me & trying this Boozinfood recipe. This is an old hand-me-down recipe. If it’s too sweet pull back on the sugar per roll or lessen the sweeten condensed milk & increase the whole milk. Tweak it to suit your tastebuds. 😊❤️

Use the grand biscuits as suggested. This semi-homemade version is as good, but less taxing than making dough starting from a flour base. 👍🏽

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I've been trying to figure out my 'big Mama's sweet roll' recipe for years. I'm 67 and I couldn't remember the correct name. But i recently found a different recipe and it did bring back memories and was delicious. Now I will try yours. I'm trying to pass on recipes from my childhood to my great nieces and nephews. Although I was born and raised in Chicago, my family (both sides) comes from Georgia. I grew up eating a lot of my Grandmother's southern recipes. I have never heard of Butter-rolls or Butter Shot alcohol. Hopefully, I can order Butter Shot from Amazon if I can't find it here in California where I live now. Thanks for posting. Hi Joyce. Buttershots is sold at most liquor stores; but can be substituted with brandy, whiskey or simplify the recipe with use of vanilla extract. Enjoy 😊

Ms Sheila, instead of using 1½ tsp of sugar and a drop of vanilla, would using 1½ tsp vanilla sugar work?? Just curious. My Grandma used to make Butter Rolls and I loved them. Her process was different but this looks much easier. You are so right that food carries you back in memories! Bless you for sharing this recipe.

I’ve never baked with vanilla sugar. I think it’s more of a European type staple. I tend to bake closely to what I know. If you try it let me know. ❤️

Thanks for subscribing.❤️ In this video I did the shortcut version using grand biscuits as the dough (grandmas didn’t have these.) At some point I’ll make one with scratch dough, but the dough mixture is the same that’s used for pie crusts. Also, Buttershots is sold in liquor stores. You may use vanilla extract as a substitute. 👍🏽👍🏽

The only variation in this recipe is using canned biscuits & booze. Granny didn’t have canned biscuits & grandpa wouldn’t allow her to use the moonshine to make Buttershots… So when you have better, you do better. ✌🏽
