Something bigger than Steve Albini himself has gone with his sudden death, something wich was crystal pure, something he protected but also shared to the world. He was a guardian of the temple, the temple of a vision of music that fought to be loyal, that fought to be honest and fought to just be. Man there was so much left to stand for. Bye Steve.

I did the lighting for a Shellac concert at First Avenue. It was an early show. They went on at 6 am. There were toaster stations and free Poptarts. There were no guest lists, not even for the press. I left work at 9 am. It was an amazing show.

I saw someone comment on another video that they went to college with Steve, and for an art project, he stood behind plexiglass while hurling insults at the jocks, and they threw bricks at him. There's something deeply poetic about that.💔

They were supposed to play in the brazilian edition of Primavera by the end of 2022 and then their name suddenly got removed from the lineup. Now the man is gone and I'm never going to see them. Rest in POWER, Steve. May God carry you to the green pastures of heaven in his big wings. I'm going to binge Shellac and Big Black records through this week and drink the best beer I can in your honor.

Albini profoundly influenced how I hear myself as a communicating musician (dumbass drummer). My time on stage and in studio is far more sensitive to real dynamics thanks to his work and his generous presence in music. He’ll be missed beyond words.
