I've never ever heard that Miss Winters was jaded, or bitchy, or mean to her fans. I meet the great lady once at the French Quarter in West Hollywood in 89 and she was charming, beautiful and so so sweet. I was eating lunch with my than bf and of all people in the world to sit at the next table, the great Shelley Winters. I had no idea I was starring. She put her menu down, looked straight at me and said. "Sweetie, close your mouth. They charge extra for starring." I laughed than apologized and told her how much I loved her. "I LOVE, when men love me. " she replied. She was heaven. A true lady and Star. God Bless her.

Sally Louise -in my whole life I have always made great friendships with people much older than myself. All my “old” friends always said I had an “old soul”. I don’t exactly know what that means but I do think I’m an old man stuck in a young body. I just love old folks. They have so much stories and wisdom to pass on.

This is fantastic! Thank you so much for posting this video. What incredible memories. I met Shelley Winters in 1987 at the Ralph's supermarket on 3rd and San Vicente in West Hollywood. I was standing in the express line and this little disheveled woman in front of me turned around and asked me to open a package of nuts. "Plastic has ruined the world," she said. I recognized her voice immediately. I was blown away. Then she got kicked out of line because she had too many items! She was very gracious about it and as she was walking away, I mentioned I was a huge fan of her work. Long story short: she invited me to come by her duplex and chat. It was a memory I'll cherish forever.

I went to college with Shelley Winter's daughter, Tory. True story: After I graduated and went to the AFI in Beverly Hills, I called her and asked if I could invite her mother to talk to us students. Tory agreed and gave me the number. I called Shelley at around 5 PM...and she was obviously intoxicated, but long story short, she agreed. So I approached the powers at AFI, Nina Foch and Tony Vellani about inviting her to speak. Nina's face went white, and I wondered what I'd said. They took the invitation "under advisement". Shelley Winters never came. I found out later that in the early 1950s, Nina had an affair with Shelley Winter's husband at the time, Italian actor Vittorio Gassman (Tory's last name). I was a naive 22 year old kid. Welcome to Hollywood...

Well, Don you didn't know! You did nothing wrong! I just knew when you just told us! That was an unforgettable grudge that Shelley held! Who could blame her..! Husbands are off limits..period!
@donbrown1284
@donbrown1284 4 жыл бұрын
@@ceciliem1811 Actually, I think Shelley Winters was over it. From her reaction, I deduced that Nina nixed it because of guilt. Nina Foch was a phenomenal teacher, but a very complicated woman. She called herself one of the "walking wounded" because of the blacklist of the 1950s, and it left her somewhat bitter.

Fire signs appreciate each other. Others think that we're maybe a bit to blunt or have an edge to us. But I think we just appreciate the straight forwardness (if that's even a word! Lol) about each other. Great stories & I just love how much you appreciate all that came before! We're such a disposable society these days & most don't have that love of history. To me it's heartbreaking... So I thank you for this channel! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it! ♥️

It is amazing that Shelly Winters opened up to you. I know it is always hard for movie stars to make just friends with people because most people want things out of them. But you and she obviously gave each other friendship. Someone to talk to and hang out with, with no strings attached. I've always loved Shelly Winters. I read her book. She had such a colorful life. She lived in a time that it seemed, all the movie stars were born. An amazing actress. I loved seeing her home. The fact that she bought a place, not for just herself, not a showy place, but a place for her parents and her daughter, says a lot about her. I'm so glad she opened up to you. The photos she gave you are a treasure. I hope to hear more about her from you. Thank you for sharing such a personal and private relationship with us.

Jordan I am a Hollywood history buff and have learned even more since watching your channel. You were mentioning something about Natalie Wood dating Elvis. I watched the Natalie wood doc and the way her sister told it was Natalie wood was not into Elvis and her mother was not protective! She was a stage mother. Natalie wood worked from the time she was a child and suffered life long physical and mental traumas that we won’t go into.Let’s just say that Kirk Douglas might have something to do with that. I watched your vlog on Jean Spangler and I completely believe that Kirk Douglas was the father of her child and might have been the reason she disappears just sayin. I’ll shut up now! 😅

Watched The Poseidon Adventure 5x in theatre in ‘72 as a little kid. Would nearly cry at Mrs. Rosen’s death each time ( Shelly Winters favored my Mom a bit, so I sort of saw my Mom dying) . I just could not get over the special effects of that movie and action scenes, that’s why I begged my Dad to take me to see it again and again. Very haunting to watch each time on the big screen. Then when I visited The Queen Mary a couple years later, my knees nearly gave out when I saw how massive that ship was. Still did when looking at it at my High School prom years later. High School prom on the QM, that was a highlight of my life for sure. 👍🏻 Kudos for Hawthorne High for arranging that. I wish I met Martin Landau, one of my idols. I was a fan of his since Space:1999. Only knew later how many known actors he taught to act. RIP for both of them. 😢

I used to get hot dogs there! OMG! This is amazing! Not bad for a kid from Ohio! Tidbit: I was Francis Lederer's new discovery in his acting class. He was the forgotten Dracula! He was a huge star and sweetest man.

I first saw Shelley in Poseidon Adventure when she was heavy set so I usually remember her that way even though later on I saw older movies of her when she was thinner. She actually looked pretty good in the picture you showed. Anytime I saw her on Johnny Carson she was awesome and funny. I don't think there will every be a Golden Era in Hollywood again so I am glad I got to see some of the greatest.

You're great, Jordan!! Tell us everything and know the right people will find you and love you! Shelley saw something in you, a "like" energy, she's always near enjoying your adventures. I am a mature woman and can understand what you meant to her. The friend in "need" was each of you and it was time for an eternal connection. Great blog! ❣👏

Wonderful A Place in the Sun! I always enjoyed watching her on Roseanne because it seemed that character seemed to be how she was in real life. Also The Diary of anne frank. Iam sorry you lost such a friend. Shelley always great in all she did. Although a rather vile character in A Patch of Blue, she played it superbly.

Shelley Winters was among my all-time favorites. She always had a sparkle in her eyes, that told me, she was no doubt, a very nice person, if you met her. Even when she was playing a scene that involved a lot of anger. I wish I could've met her. While working as a Ride Op at Knott's Berry Farm, I got to see and meet a few A-Listers, like Lola Falana, Courtney Cox & David Arquette, Howie Mandel, and a couple of others, I cannot mention. Lola had family with her, and needed help finding something in Fiesta Village, so I walked with her, snd had a very nice, short conversation, then we parted ways. I am so happy she had you for a friend. Someone who obviously loved her very much. I was so, so sad when she died.

Hey! Jordon. You are such a fortunate fellow. Especially, after meeting all these great wonderful celebrities, from the Hollywood Golden Picture Era, such as Martin Landau and Shelley Winters, for instance. Thank you! For this memorable presentation and i most certainly hope that you’ve passed the commercial audition, over at Castaway Agency? Lol! Take! care, my friend and good luck, with all of your career endeavors. Johnny, Montréal, Canada 🇨🇦

Jordan, you are a Leo! I knew it!!!! That's why you got along with Shelley so well, as she was a Leo Lady (so am I). Your videos bring such joy, and make me homesick for Los Angeles. You do a fabulous job, and your knowledge of Hollywood is impressive. I will be contributing to your cause. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!
