When I got married I left my hometown of Tallahassee to move on the east coast and I didn’t have a soul 🥲 I prayed for some friends and Shilei was definitely my answer to prayer 🙏🏼🙌🏽 Honestly I like shelling alone just for the sheer peace of it but she I will shell with anytime and anywhere (my family too of course). Thx for watching; have a good week!

So nice to hear from you! I hope all is well with you 🤞🏼 Awww I love to hear that! He is currently in his “preteen-age-ness” so that with ADHD is a challenge but God is good and seeing us through. I need to get him to the beach-it’s currently been a little while. Thank you and I give all the praise to God-in which all I trust. Thank you for your comment and I hope you have a very blessed week ❤️🐚 oh!! Also if you’d like me to send you a gaudy nautica I will, just go to my website floridabeachwalks.com/contact/ and send me your address using that email form 👍🏼

I look forward to your video every Sunday! You really found some beautiful shells. Those huge whelks will be gorgeous for your succulent garden!

I'm so happy to hear that! I really have enjoyed making these videos for you all. That's my plan each Sunday but sometimes I'm sure "life" will get in the way. Since starting I had to skip one Sunday so far when work was too crazy. I'm the vacation bible school director at my church and our VBS week starts tomorrow...but was able to finish the editing on time for today (wasn't sure I'd finish)...anyways, I'm rambling lol. Next Sunday might have to be a skip b/c of VBS and working but we'll see how it goes🤞I appreciate YOU and yes, the larger shells in this video have made it to my succulent garden! Have a wonderful week!

I do have a succulent garden going w/these I picked up👍🏼 Thank you for watching. Got to take every moment w/these kids, before I know it they’ll be off to college 😲 Have a good week

Lot's of really awesome finds! Cool to see a lot of those big shells too, and that whelk cleaned up so nice. I've yet to find a rose murex so that looked like a really exciting find!
@FloridaBeachWalks4 ай бұрын
Big “hello” to you 🐚👍🏼🌊❤️☀️ Yes, love those rustic looking older shells too 😍 I was pleasantly surprised it did clean up so well! You’ll find your rose soon enough-the key on Kice w/those is to shuffle the surface. My friend Shilei has found some stunning roses by patiently doing that 👍🏼 If you wanted to see the roses she has collected from Kice here is a link to her Etsy store to see them-all in her shop were mostly from Kice : www.etsy.com/shop/ShileiTreasures?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=1595250103&from_page=listing Take care and “happy shelling” thx SO much for watching!

Hi Roxann 👋🏻 Lovely trip to Kice Island with friends and family! The Alphabet Cone, Rose Murex and Horse Conches are just stunning 🤩 at 17:12 there is a paper fig to the right of the Angel Wing that I was hoping to look at too, but maybe you saw that it was broken? The favourite is the darker coloured Coloureful Moon Snail from Dickmans, that was fabulous. Oh, I liked learning how long those sand dollars can live for; I don’t know how long any of the sea snails here can live for...I think it’s not something that much scientific study has been devoted to? Anyway, I loved seeing your trip, thank you for sharing it ❤️
@FloridaBeachWalks4 ай бұрын
Hey Maddie! Ahhhh don’t think I saw that paper fig! There is so much to look at and then watch what I’m recording too-you know how that goes 🙃 But it’s fun shelling for the 2nd time watching the playbacks lol-unless I passed something really special ahaahhhhh!!!! Some of my shelling books have some neat facts about these critters and I try to share what I can-helps me to learn myself about these fabulous treasures! That moon was spectacular nice and dark 😍 Thx for watching and commenting ❤️☀️

My husband and I are doing our second trip to Marco in December. Can you please tell me if it was difficult to kayak to Dickmans or Kice Island please. We did a few chartered tours while we were there last time but I would love to explore at our own pace. If you could include if you rented and where you launched from it would be much appreciated 😊Love your videos❤

Glad you are enjoying the videos! There is only one place to publicly launch from to kayak to Dickmans and/or Kice (Kice is farther and more difficult than Dickmans to paddle to - I’ve had friends capsize in their kayak once coming back from Kice) the public launch park is “Caxambas Park & Marina” BUT they are currently closed I heard from my friend in Fort Myers and will be for the next couple of years they say. It’s getting rebuilt after Ian-they “just” now started to rebuild. This “total” park closure is just recent-they “were” open after Ian for only non-motor boat launches (because the docks were all messed up they didn’t allow motorboats). The only other public launch place is Goodland (you can’t kayak from there to Kice. It would take over 4hrs (I had a friend that’s done that). That type of paddle trip is for the wilderness expert paddler that camps 🥲 When Caxambas was “normally” operating they do have private companies you can rent kayaks right there in the parking lot but we made a reservation w/a rental place and they just met us there at opening for a 2-day rental. My friends I was with in this video have their own kayak. The tours use Goodland for now. I had a viewer comment they took a Wilbur out to Kice and loved it-not rushed like you can feel on a tour. I’ll have to check into that myself 👍🏼 Hope this helps and have a wonderful time!!!!

Just came across your channel, and I love it! Nice job of editing and narrating, and your arrangement of shells at the end was just spectacular. Dickman's seems pretty close to Marco... how long did it take you to kayak out there? We're hoping to move to SW FL in a few years, and I'm gathering intel!
@FloridaBeachWalks4 ай бұрын
Ah! Glad you found the channel and happy you are enjoying these beach walks! Thx for taking the time to comment. Dickman's is very close to Marco Island. If that intel wasn't so powerful you could swim over to it from the tip of Marco Island. This “total” park closure is just recent-they “were” open after Ian for only non-motor boat launches (because the docks were all messed up they didn’t allow motorboats). From Caxambas to Dickmans kayak is only like 15 minutes (give or take depending if you are single or double and water conditions). It's not far at all. Hope you get the chance. When Caxambas is back open it'll be new and awesome! Have fun!

Great video and beautiful shells!! When was this filmed? What time of year?
@FloridaBeachWalks3 ай бұрын
Thank you. This was before hurricane Ian. January. Winter months are the best for Florida shelling.
@shannonnakamura99323 ай бұрын
@FloridaBeachWalks thanks for replying. 🙂 It's important, I think, to know when these videos are filmed. It's helps us as shellers or newer shellers to figure out the best times to go, etc. Someone who doesn't know any better could watch this and think it was current and videoed this summer. I enjoyed watching it. I have yet to venture that far southwest to shell yet, and it's something I very much look forward to. Hopefully, this winter.

Where did you put your kayak out? I have a young daughter and am a beginner kayaker! So I’m afraid to try this. But if I can launch kinda close I might be able to do it with her. Love your videos and you have the prettiest smile!

Hello and oh my goodness thank you! There is only one place close to publicly launch from to kayak to Dickmans (easy paddle, you guys could do it!) and/or Kice (Kice is farther and more difficult to paddle to, chop can come on fast- I’ve had friends capsize in their kayak once coming back from Kice) the public launch park is “Caxambas Park & Marina” BUT they are currently closed I heard from my friend in Fort Myers and will be for the next couple of years they say. I can’t wait till Caxambas is open again. You can see Dickmans right from the launch area at Caxambas 🌊☀️🐚
