Truly, Star was always meant to be a star! After returning home, Star went off on her quest for stardom and became the world's first independent animal performer. Her most well known trick went on to become her pioneering act of pulling a human out of a hat.

The way I see it is that this I supposed to be a realistic nature/badger simulator almost, and in the wild the mother wouldn't have instructions or tips to help her, she would have to learn from her mistakes and figure things out as she goes. So I think the game wants you to understand and feel her emotions as you learn what you need to do. That is just my take on things.

It really is astounding how we can care so much for creatures that are so unlike us in many ways, creatures that can't speak our language and have no lines of dialogue. And I totally agree, it's so very very lovely. It's nice to be able to play something so down to Earth as a mother. No grand quest to save the world, just you and your children. And badger mama Marshall has a nice ring to it :)

I have been on youtube for about an hour trying to find SOMEONE who was able to survive the ending, but I think thats the actual end

The game purposefully made the grass just out of reach of the player. The original Shelter (This one) isn't open world, which means that the game follows the same story no matter who plays it. So I believe that's the reason the grass was out of reach if the player kept running when the hawk took the first swoop, and thus the ending happens to everyone who plays the game. I'm 4 years late but this is just my evaluation of the ending and game.

I like how all the cubs follow you in the same position every time. That makes it easy to remember who's who!

What happened is... You lost tank and flash because in the dark you walked away from them when in the darkness and when they're eating you auto-sprint but you need to make sure to not move when the cub is eating. Hope this helped

Oh man I think this is probably like, the best game of this variety I've seen. Most games that put you in control of a mother animal don't have the right feel. The fire section was especially good, you're really under siege there sheesh. Love the full circle feel of the ending, it's almost like when presented with lack of cover and a hungry bird the mother badger either attempted to fight it or sacrificed herself for the safety of the cubs- or both, I guess.

Heh, it's like some of them have developed personalities in some ways. Beetle seems to have turned into a bit of a risk taker as he seems to be the one skirting dangerous things a lot of the time, and Star seems to be the "close call child" since she seemed to be almost dead at the start, was almost lost in the darkness, and almost got burned to death in the forest fire.

I think the reason why it gives u the Sprint randomly at night is because when going away from your cubs and leaving them in the darkness where the monsters lerk gives u a chance to catch up to them if far away. Idk?

The night part isn't hard and easy to figure out imho, you have yours. It is night, keep your cubs in the light and when they run away go after them so they dont remain in the dark for too long to get eaten. This and feed them.

I lost cubs in the dark in 2 seperate game plays. First time cause I didn't know. Second time one cub somehow got where I couldn't figure out how to reach it >.

Completely random thought: There's something very wildlife-documentary-y about watching this, especially the aspect of being introduced to a group of hardly distinguishable animals who have nevertheless been assigned names and followed as individuals.

This was so sad, poor babies all alone. The game is just lovely and the way you talked to your cubs was so sweet. It's amazing that we can start to care about "characters" in games that much. Badger mama Marshall :)

I think that's one of the great parts about the game. Even though it's pretty linear, you come out of it with stories to tell about the personalities of the cubs and the close calls they had.

(Speaking to the you of 41:00) No no, I think when that happens it means your cub has gotten lost automatically, like they disappear from your vision as if they ran off and you need to quickly find them before they get eaten.

I think another thing is that you were feeding them and then just moving away immediately and the cubs seem to stop moving for a bit while they're eating and so they can end up outside your vision.

The reason you kept auto sprinting is because when you give them food the eat but don't walk so when you walk away while eating their alone so then you panic and that's how two of them died I just wanted to explain

its not unexplained you need to keep the cubs in your cone of vision in the night lvl and when the mom badger starts to run and freak out that means a cub is about to die and u need to find them before u hear the monster scheek....i even figured that out so its kinda your fault your 2 cubs died

That's really strange that you had an auto-sprint feature in the night level. In every other version I've seen of the game, it was the cubs that got spooked and ran off and you had the chase after them.

Bad level design on the last level! I replayed this level 5 times until coming here and realizing that you need to run in the open area. no indication where to go and no hint. really depressed at the end, even with 5 baby alives. Also I replayed the "night" level because I was frustrating of loosing my babies not knowing what had happen. Theses frustrations did surpass the cutness and orignal idea in my experience.

Thing is you can't run in the night scene. Shift is disabled. Your cubs run automatically and you run after them. If you lose sight of one for too long it dies.
