This is a fast-paced, full of energy, headbanger of a song. It goes from 0-60 in less than a second! I'm not sure you guys realized but it does have subtitle, you just need to enable it (CC). Band-Maid just delivered a tsunami. So much going on in this song.

@@jbrister123 From what I've heard so far, you didn't miss much unfortunately (talking about Log Horizon in general). I dropped the show after a few episodes because I was reminded by it that I don't like Isekai Anime, but most reviews I read made it sound like a pretty mediocre show.

So I listened to "Different" about 12 hours ago (early Tuesday morning ~5am Pacific) & noticed that the fast-paced "oompah oompah" descending chromatic riff sounded highly familiar, something like circus music or Gypsy music. I finally figured out it just now that it reminded me of "Entry of the Gladiators" by Julius Fucik from a century ago, which was a piece that became hugely synonymous with big top circus music in western culture since he wrote it. Listen to this classic piece & see if you hear the similarity. Julius Fucik was Czech so it made sense since he was Bohemian, he sometimes known as the Bohemian Sousa, as the southeast European area & surrounding Mediterranean region was famous for Gypsies & their wonderful music. Seeing that "Different" is music for an anime (Log Horizon) makes it sound fun, quirky & high paced.

This song was commissioned by the makers of Log Horizon (Japanese anime) to be the opening song for the upcoming third season hence the over the top intensity. The head of the company himself requested Band Maid. Akane, who is a huge anime otaku (nerd), must be out of her mind happy.

I don't think anyone knew the MV would drop today. The single is available on the 2nd, but the anime company (for the show this song is for) dropped the new opening yesterday, so .... no idea if any of that was planned, but BAND-MAID has a history of surprise MV drops. They keep you on your toes!!

Band Maid is one of the very few bands I enjoy even if I don't understand 95% of the lyrics. Luckily If you noticed this one has English subtitles. :)

As musicians,you might enjoy this. Kanami and Miku released this video yesterday of an interview they did. It has English subtitles. They share how DIFFERENT,came about,plus a lot of other information about the band. The lyrics have a hopeful 2021 vibe, and the instrumentals sound like pure caffeine. I love it. Of course, it's not actually caffeine. In an interview about Rinne, which is 190 bpm, Akane said she works hard to keep her drumming game up. This song is 216-220 bpm, possibly going even higher. And can we appreciate how fast the other three had to work their fingers on the instruments? They're incredible.

They dropped their instrumental “Don’t be long” alongside this on spotify. Its freaking great! been waiting desperately for an official release for moths now and it was worth it. Different is great but Don’t be long kills it. This reminds of the same dynamic as Crystal lake’s watch me burn/disobey release. Hope they play this instrumental at Budokan.

If you liked this try also reacting to them playing Screaming while blindfolded, the song has a similar vibe and pacing with Akane and Misa carrying the song. It's not the whole song and they're missing the vocals and MIku but still is very fun to watch and a song very similar to this.
