Not all of my college friends who got into the “parties” got out. Honestly their STDs, drug issues making one have their teeth fall out, dependency issues causing DRAMA and bitterness, abortions and a few giving kids in adoption, and rehab trips (or needing them but not going) is where they are now. I remember being jealous of how glamorous it seemed when my friends “first” drank and had boys chase them and they dressed sexy and got attention. I also remember how sad I was when I started losing them because I wouldn’t spend a day seekingweed or fooling around, now I thank God that he had better for me.

I was homeschooled too. Only at the dining table at home, also not allowed to play a lot of games, watch a lot of movies, say a bunch of words, listen to a lot of music. Etc you get the gist. Now I'm in freshman year at our junior community college. It's a bit of a culture shock. I mean I went to Christian Apologetics things in Colorado and met some not sheltered kids but besides that It's still culture shock. Im also a lil late I started college at 23 now I'm 24.

I remember this one time we literally could not find my friends roommate after we all came back from the quad after getting some lunch, so we were looking around the dorms and found her sitting alone in the dorm lounge, bible open. She told us she needed a quiet space to read the word and think. I knew at that exact moment, we could never truly be friends because I was basically evil.

Okay but I was cheated out of my childhood because of this. My dad raised me never let me watch anything but Christian stuff (still to this day haven’t seen a single episode of Dora, SpongeBob, and a million other childhood shows). The first time I heard real music (this was many years back when the only music was slow and melody shit) I thought I was doing something bad, the song was literally called Diamonds. Needless to say I am now a cussing Atheist. 😊😊

I was given all the freedom anyone could wish growing up. I'm a woman, and I could go out until as late as I wanted, I could date whomever I wanted, I could do anything I wanted, listen to anything I wanted, watch whatever I wanted. Yet, there is nothing in the world that I find exciting, I always watched my mouth and people can't imagine me saying bad words, I became a straight A student... I partied a lot but by the time I was 22 and my friends were still going to clubs I wanted to go to museums, the botanical garden, etc. Of all the choices, my heart longed for God, for real love, and for what is truly good and beautiful. I became a very devout Christian by choice and by conviction. I choose to shelter myself, because it keeps me sane, happy, at peace, and this is truly the best choice I've made in my life. In my freedom, I found out that God was truly the best choice, I hope now that you have freedom, and will be free to experience all of the nonsense out there, you will eventually come to the same conclusion. I think parents who shelter their children usually do it because they love their child and see the rottenness of the world. Of course, too much sheltering can result in the opposite outcome, because people want to feel like their lives are their choice and were not imposed on them. Not sure how I would raise my own children, but your comment gives me good insight.
