I totally get that. I'm not crazy-sheltered, but for some reason I've always been very good at talking to adults and/or other "sheltered kids" that are good at talking to adults. Most people my age talk about random internet fads and stuff that I don't keep up with, so it's almost like they're talking a different language.

When my wedding came up, I kept waiting for "the talk" from my mom beforehand and all I got was marriage advice 😂. Luckily they had a great attitude towards the topic and I had figured out the mechanics so it wasn't an issue, but talking to my parents later on I stressed how important comprehensive sex ed is. (They had good talks with all of my siblings afterwards). I also told all of my siblings that once you turn 18, I will answer any and all questions and make sure that you know the things I didn't. When you expect both parties to be sheltered virgins but don't bother to educate them about various things yourselves, don't be surprised when there is some confusion 😂

Raised a sheltered Pentecostal kid. I was so sheltered I only knew what 'sex' was as a bad word, and figured it out by (1) being exposed to Playboy in high school and (2) seeing dogs go at it and extrapolating from there

I wonder if Catholic school in America is different to Catholic school in Ireland. In my town, there were only two secondary schools. One was an all girls Catholic school. The other was an all boys Catholic school. But unlike America, Catholic schools are usually public schools. So most people grow up fairly poor and therefore are less likely to be able to talk to adults the way this video portrays. Also, were there other religions in your school? I.e. Would you ever have Muslims, non Catholic Christians, Hindus etc? Were most people atheist? And did you do religious stuff like going to mass, going on pilgrimages, religion class etc?

We’ve been married almost 20 years and when sex came up, one of my kids asked how many times a day we did it (suggesting it was several). 😂 I was like, wouldn’t you notice if we were gone all day?! No. It’s not 4x/day. . . . . Only two. . In all seriousness, though “saving yourself/waiting for marriage” is highly unpopular, we were so happy we did. Keeping inappropriate media out of your life can allow the REAL thing to excite you and be amazing, even after 20 years.
