In epidemiology, they refer to an independent variable as an exposure ex. smoking, and a dependent variable as the outcome which is usually a disease ex. cancer. This helps me remember.

Can't thank you enough for these videos! I'm at the halfway point on my way to test day, and these videos are really helping me consolidate everything I've studied so far, while finding the areas I need to focus on going forward. Looking forward to more!

For me PSY soc section is the toughest. Even though I am testing in Jan 2021, I never took PSY or Soc in my university which leads me to self study this section.

Never fear! Many students achieve high scores in the psych/soc section without taking these courses in undergrad.

Can you guys please do a video on experimental design for the p/s section? I struggle with these questions and haven't found a video on that.

Solid video, my guy! Now I’m fully geared for test day. Another big question for you (thanks so much for answering my past questions)-Do you think there is any value in retaking AAMC FLs? Because I often see a lot of controversy about this topic on MCAT Reddit. I recently retook AAMC FL 1 and 2 and scored 512 & 511, respectively, which were huge jumps when I first took them last January (499 & 503, I believe). I do admit, a few questions definitely looked very familiar, but retaking AAMC FLs has reportedly helped several people rocket their real MCAT scores. Thanks as always-testing on 6/20 🙏

Happy to hear you enjoyed it! Yes, and improving (like you did) between AAMC exams means you're studying for the MCAT the right way. I recommend that you go through the AAMC materials at least once or twice, especially if it's been a few months since your first pass at them! Good luck on your exam-you're going to do great!!! :)

So you would recommend to reread every passage when going over the full lengths? Great video btw!

100%! Even more than that, make sure you really understand the figures, ESPECIALLY ones you didn't understand the first time around. Thanks-happy you enjoyed it!

In the air quality question, why not option size of the city seen as the area of the city determining population density hence the confounding variable ?

Are you going to post a video on how to study for the General Chemistry portion of the MCAT?
@Shemmassian4 жыл бұрын
We'll post a video of Vikram walking through an MCAT general chemistry passage in the near future! Stay tuned!
@DrJay-wr1df4 жыл бұрын
@@Shemmassian I think the OP was asking if you would create a top studies strategy video from a Gen-Chem perspective as opposed to a walk through of a passage; a video many of us would be interested in. Also, there is an error @3:28; the pop-up text should say social demographics instead of sensation.

Thanks @@DrJay-wr1df ! We'll add a gen chem study strategies video to the list. In the meantime, I encourage you to check out our guide: www.shemmassianconsulting.com/blog/mcat-chemistry

Thanks for the video. What practice FL tests do you recommend in addition to the AAMC tests?
@Shemmassian4 жыл бұрын
Great question, and happy to hear you enjoyed it! Really any practice test will get the job done as long as you're learning from your mistakes after the exam. Make sure to completely review the test after you take it, write down the content you missed, and study that content so that you don't miss it again!

What type of statistics is tested in MCAT? I have been told its basic statistics but i am still struggling with it
@Shemmassian4 жыл бұрын
It is important to know about statistical significance, but you're unlikely to see statistical calculations on the P/S section of the MCAT. Is there a specific question I can help with that you saw on a practice exam?
