Love this song ! I almost never post here, but I must share this. Five years ago I left the one who loved me like that. I am much older than she, and in my f'ed up mind I thought I was doing the right thing. I crushed her heart and walked away. There was never a day when she didn't cross my mind, and the pain and regret nearly consumed me with booze and hard living. She married another, and I lived each day in misery. I moved on and tried to forget, but never. Fast forward to last week, I walk into a business for sale to inquire the asking price, and she is standing behind the counter. Four eyes full of tears, we sat down and talked. We found we are both now unattatched, and by the grace of god I asked her to forgive me. 18 hours later, my phone rang, and although the road ahead is rocky, we are now on the way to reconciling. People, don't ever give up on the love of your life, go find them. I am convinced God himself led me to that door last week, and my faith is reborn.

Sometimes I help out the cashiers at work by ringing up customers when we are super busy. An old man came through my line with flowers. He said they were for his wife and it was their anniversary. He was full of light and love as he talked about her. Then he told me she had passed away this past September. He told me they were married for well over 60 years and still going strong. He choked up said he was still very much in love with her. I was so heartbroken after he left, but also so amazed at the beautiful love that he had for his bride. I thought of this song.

Lemme tell ya, I'm a conservatory-trained music teacher of 25 years. Prior to that (and still so) I was a serious heavy-metal singer. I heard this song nearly 24 years ago, the first year I taught... I didn't like country music, I didn't understand it... BUT the local country radio station was all I could tune in on my car radio up on the prairie, so, grudgingly, I listened. The very FIRST time I heard this, I cried. Like REALLY wept! Music is music, no matter where or who you are. I am so touched by this. For whatever reason today, after teaching Kindergarten students about the xylophone lol this opening line popped into my head. I just had to find it. In my musical circle, I probably couldn't find a friend who's ever listened to it. But here I am at 50 instead of 26 and I'm crying here in my room... that's the power of music. Such vivid memories are triggered only by music... I would LOVE to hear Rascal Flatts cover this, wouldn't you? Just wanted to share, Dr. B

It's late Saturday night and I came across this song after another one "Ghost In This House" and I'm sobbing quietly. My little girls (ages 5, 2,1) whom I have custody of, are asleep now and I'm glad they can't see their daddy crying now. Their mother, the love of my life, left us for another man about a year ago. She had been cheating our whole marriage and never really loved me. This song really hit home with me...I wish I could be loved like that. Maybe someday. I put on a happy face for my girls, but inside I'm heart-broken. My girls are little angels and at least I have them to love me.

I recorded this song a little over two years ago using a karaoke site I belong to . My late wife, Linda Kate sat next to me as I sang this song for her . Due to her advanced Alzheimer's disease she no longer had the ability to speak or stand on her own but deep in that frail body was a beautiful soul that had shared life and marriage with me for 51 years , 8 months and 19 days. When I finished singing the song while holding her hand in mine, I glanced over to her and somehow, despite the damage wrought by the disease, she had tears rolling down on her cheeks.About six months after I sang her this song, she passed away here in our home with me standing beside her , holding her hand and telling her it was okay to go on . Then God's angel came for her . Don't feel sorry for me , she was my queen from the day I met her as a 19 year girl in Atlanta and we were married just 8 months after our meeting . I had far more love than most people get to experience in life and I am slowly learning to cope and living on as she would want me to and getting out and about more . I guess the final thing I will say is that we got to live the words of this song . Will I ever have love like that again ? Maybe it's too late but I am not closing that door completely because I know from my time with her that anything is possible . If you have loved and lost, keep the faith and keep on going .

This song is so great not only because of the beautiful lyrics, but it's the voice that is expressing the lyrics. Well, life isn't really a garden man. Relationships are not perfect, in fact they take a lot of hard work, time, energy and devotion ,and that needs to be reciprocated from both parties. In addition, maybe if females would stop falling for guys that treat them malevolently, maybe they could be happy.

I was blessed to have found a love like that. We had 33 wonderful years together and then I lost him to kidney failure. I know I'll never find a love like that again. But God gave me John and a love like that for 33 years.

We all want to be loved like that, we want someone to fight for us, makes us feel wanted, but sadly people give up on each other so easily these days, "Love" doesn't hold the same meaning today as it did back then, Love today seems to mean, I'll love you til I get what I want or get sick of you... love from back then was the kind that could last decades upon decades and you were still as happy as you were from day one!!!

I'm 39 and lost my soul mate back in 2017. The pain of his loss still hits me hard. My devotion is still true! I have an old soul. Nobody my age would really understand. I come to this song to remember his love. No man ever loved me like the way he did.
@robbyhanners4739 жыл бұрын
Relationships like this does not exist anymore. People believe that a relationship is suppose to be easy, but its not. It takes work and devotion. So many people are fast to walk away when times get hard. They take the cowards way out. So many relationships would be saved if they would just commutate with each other instead of looking for something better. Just the thought of a man who's so sick of dead end relationships.

I have that love now, he is amazing and would do anything for me, this kind of love does exist. You just have to find the right person for it to work. Nobody is perfect but you have to give in and look for the perfect one for you. Love is an amazing thing. If you have it don't let go and if your trying to find it keep looking. Love is what keeps us going

If you want to be loved like that, you have to be able to love like that. My wife and I have been married for 15 years, and I knew that she had MS before we tied the knot. I told her that I will not leave her. The MS has made her unable to walk. I don't have anyone to take care of her so now I stay home and do it myself.

If you were ever loved like that, PLEASE count your blessings. Some of us never get that our whole lives. I'm almost 60. I've enjoyed life and I'm thankful but I always wanted to be loved like that. I tried. lol was married 4 times and even engaged a few times. I felt like the runaway bride a few times, but I can't say I didn't try! I gave it my all and I wasn't afraid of commitment! Just chose the wrong ones or the ones who couldn't commit. I really don't understand it. I just know that IF you have that kind of love that's in this song, don't take it for granted . Hold on to it with everything you have. You're very blessed.
