To be sure...you are a fortunate soul to have had that opportunity. There are many fine arrangements over the years from simple eloquence with a duet culling from the Americana heritage to this zenith of the British choral tradition. Lyrics Shenandoah (James Erb arrangement) Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you And hear your rolling river Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you way, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri. I long to see your smiling valley And hear your rolling river I long to see your smiling valley way, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri. 'Tis seven long years since last I've seen you And hear your rolling river 'Tis seven long years since last I've seen you way, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri. Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you And hear your rolling river Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you way, we're bound away Across the wide Missouri.

God has reached down and given us this incredibly glorious recording. God has blessed the conductor and voices so that they might assure all of us of a benevolent Creator. The movement of the Shenandoah River is evoked and evoked in the overlapping voices, and all is right with the world as we listen for just a little while. Warmth and gratitude for the genius of all who combined to offer this gift of music.

@@danielfennessy That is a stupid statement. American identity like this belongs to all Americans regardless of their races, skin color, sexual orientations, etc. This also applies to current Americans and future Americans who are currently applying for citizenship. Chorales, Hymns, Classical Music, etc are all about frequency & resonance. This sort of music (within a certain range of frequency) actually resonates within our own genetic makeup ie our DNA. This is why we are so moved by these pieces of music. The early church knew all about this & used it to their advantage when designing the first Catholic basilica’s. This is why ppl “feel” “god” when they’re listening to a choir in a cathedral. I often times laugh & cry at the same time (Ode to Joy gets me every time lol) so I’m well aware of how powerful this phenomena is. The Buddhist Om, The Gregorian chants, Hebrew, Aramaic/Arabic, Native Peoples chants/prayers etc, all have the same effect. It’s hardwired into us at the genetic level. I’m a “Yankee” but I love this song as I’m an amateur Civil War historian. Lorena is a beautiful song that came from that war too; both Billy Yank & Johnny Reb adored it.
