This dude whooped me so bad and so damn quick just now I had to look up if this was even possible. Pretty cool.

Thank you for this strategy. If i had to watch the same Chai cutscene one more time, i would’ve pulled out my hair and turn in to Chai

One of the most cracked out scenes in Shenmue.

Was finally able to do it thanks! I used crawl cyclone on L2 but then tried to keep my distance while using hold against leg to keep him back seemed to work ok, then spam crawl cyclone.

It worked perfectly. Thanks to L2 shortcut. Camera is a mess in this fight...

That's that ten year old brother strategy, spam the leg

That's right, now I remember how to beat him. I remember pulling this off on the Dreamcast once but it was so long ago that I forgot the methodology.

This fight is actually pretty easy: blocking, waiting until he stands upright and then demon dropping him (works even without short cut). As I've played the game for the first time (20 years ago) I've never won this fight. But using above strategy, I win every time. Golden rule: keep calm. If he strikes you to the ground or if he drops you, take your time and repeat the strategy

I have played the game since it came out in japan(imported the japanese version). with my strat in the video, you dont even need to look at the screen. just spam that move lol.

How often do you replay this game?
@timdanger852 жыл бұрын
@@Neochrono I have the PS4-Version and saved the game 5 minutes before the fight. So, I think I might replayed the fight about 30 times. However, I have to admit, the 70 man battle makes more fun. But it is funny, how everyone imitates Chai after this fight, when Ryo asks them about him: "Eeeeegh!"

Nope, unfortunately you wont get any trophy for it :(

Shenmue 1 isn't perfect but still a solid game. However having this in the game is a major mistake. Most players are not able to defeat chai but if you were somehow lucky enough to defeat him this would ruin the story in my opinion. Just think about chai is supposed to be the main villain and the final boss and your first fight you where able to beat him? Does that make any sense? The best thing for this scene is even if you lower his health bar the scene still plays out with fukusan saving Ryo. Yu Suzuki give me a fucking break man.

What move is that?
@MikedieONE6 жыл бұрын
its the Crawl Cyclone move. you can buy the movescroll in tha antiqueshop for 1000yen. Just lay it on L2 button and spam it at him.

Another proof of how bad this game is: an arsenal of like 20 moves and yet the only usable move is the Crawl Cyclone. Why do we even have them if they are pointless? Shenmue is really a fraud.
@MikedieONE Жыл бұрын
Kinda stupid argument. In street fighter you can also spam hadouken to beat somebody or in tekken smash buttons to do crazy moves with eddy. Crawl cyclone is not the "only usable move" at all. Just watch what some really skilled players can do in the 70men battle as an example. These other 50 moves are not "useless". I just showed a cheese method here. Like in most other games there are cheeses to make it easier. This cheese doesn't even work anymore in the final battle against him(at the harbor). The only reason it works here is because the small room keeps you close to him. You actually aren't even suppose to win here(or at least it supposed be very hard and the alternative sequences if you win is kind of a Easteregg)
@albertomassidda Жыл бұрын
And, overall, the fighting controls are very stiff throughout any encounter. Most NPCs are totally uncooperative, QTEs are merciless (especially the first of a sequence that has a high chance of catching you off guard) and usually are dealt with trial-and-error. Shenmue 1 is not the masterpiece that everybody tell about. The second chapter is slightly better.
@albertomassidda Жыл бұрын
(sorry, this crappy website cut the first half of my answer) The 70 men battle is yet another example of how to win with a single move: Tom's Tornado Kick is the safest way to win, as it knocks out opponents while keeping them at distance. Again, why such a big moves catalog? There are not even enough combats to make good use of the moves and develop a personal style.
@gr8gmr11 ай бұрын
@@albertomassidda The fighting controls are just fine and so is everything else you just mentioned. It's clear that you're just not that good at this game.
@gr8gmr11 ай бұрын
@@albertomassidda Not true. The Tornado Kick is not really all that safe. It has a slow start up and can be blocked or interrupted by enemies. You can use plenty of other attacks that are more safer against the enemies than the Tornado Kick.
