The person who wrote the subtitles didn't know as much as they thought they did, and they missed the joke by Mario. He said "Ryo means Signore and Nozomi means Signora", which in turn means "Ryo means Mr. and Nozomi means Mrs." The subtitle writer must have misheard, or thought he knew better, putting "Nozomi means Signorina". @jonathanakerele80068 жыл бұрын
+Shōichirō Hitomajiri What's the cave you speak of? The whole plot is about him getting revenge for his dad's death so in a way heartbreak is the ongoing theme of the game in more ways than one. Nozomi is repeatedly heartbroken each time Ryo refuses to open up to her emotionally or physically embrace her. Ryo is heartbroken over the murder of his father and can't acknowledge Nozomi's affection due to wanting to honor his dad so much. It's all very tragic in a way. =(

and this video ends like the first game. it gives you that feely feel in the stomach because you leave Yokosuka just about when we would have seen a more human Ryo, with Nozomi coming to his house, Fuku-san embaressed by it, Ine-san thanking her for the flowers... there could be a pre-Shenmue game for the events involving a younger Ryo like we saw in the Saturn version. His growth and learning of the Hazuki Style, parallels of Ren forming the Heavens...
@Grandmastergav863 жыл бұрын
I always wanted that. I always wanted a relationship aspect to the game, the ability to develop branching fighting styles (retaining the individual techniques but allowing Ryo to switch to Wing Chun for example), would've been awesome to have spent time in Ryo's high school too, similar to Bully.

0:18, 14:28, and 12:50 made me burst out laughing. 3:22 is like a funnier Borat. All of these scenes are really good and obscure. I never came across this Mario chef character in all the times I have played Shenmue so this makes for a nice surprise. I bet the staff who made Shenmue did get inspiration for this character from the Super Mario Brothers games of the 80's since Mario was Italian and a plumber in that series and here is an Italian chef with that same name. All we would need is for him to mention that he has a brother named Luigi and everyone would get that as a Super Mario Bros. reference right off the bat. =)

+BioDevil_Dom I want to see that too. I wish the Japanese developers had made their relationship a deeper part of the game's plot because that would have been so cool and very interesting. Whenever Nozomi speaks to Ryo in the game I can feel the emotion coming from her in how she cares for Ryo and doesn't want any harm to come to him. Seeing how much Ryo goes out of his way physically to protect her it would have been nice to have that matched with equally intimate conversation including about his father. That would have really deepened the bond between them but would have likely sidetracked from the main plot of the game which is finding Lan Di.
