The big "box" next to the Dash 60 is a cooling unit. The big tube connected to it is jet engine exhaust (hot). The force of the hot air powers a blower that moves cold air. It's pretty amazing. The Dash 60 is used to "start" an aircraft that doesn't have internal starting (like the F4). It literally "blows air" to turn on the engine. The Dash 60 also provides a huge amount of electrical power.

I was so proud to see he reset the contactor... Spent 6 years in fighter AGE. I miss it.

Ground Power Unit dash 60, provides 28 VDC, 120 VAC 60hz, 120 VAC 400 Hz, and compressed air for starting a turbine engine. Powered by a small turbine engine, which is started with an electric motor. They have been around forever because they work.

Blackcat Holman only thing I would love them to change is filling of the main tank! Of those are bone dry, it would take at least 30min to fill. Because of the main tank transfer pipe is so damn small

I used to really love ❤ this sound. This is the sound that I play in my head when I'm waking up. I don't need coffee, I've got a built-in Dash 60. Rrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkk There's nothing like the sound of 20,000 rpm! 🤣

Those things are magical. Jet fuel, oil, hydro...you can dump anything in there and it will fucking burn! You just gotta shake it when the turbine hangs. Good memories!!!

Firing up a "Dash 60" was the closest that ever got to flying a "jet" when I was in the Air Force! The sound is even more amazing in real life. It is a jet engine! They use the engine in T38 trainers. It takes about a minute to spool up to full speed from a dead start. It's the sound of POWER!

It most definitely is NOT the same engine that is in a T-38 Talon...
@SciHeartJourney7 ай бұрын
@@larissahamilton1726 I'm not sure what the T-38 was called. It was just a trainer. But I do know that the engine is the same one used in the T-38. I was in the AF and that's what they told me. Maybe they were wrong, but I trust them more than some stranger on the Internet.

May I present a derogatory comment; A -10 and a -60 = a -70. Why in the Fxck is a C-130 positioned in the background without an A/m 32a -86 diesel generator. - 60's and 10's are only used on fighter jets// not hercs

MK4KADA for 15,16, to be honest it’s for any aircraft that uses 3 phase generator at 400hz. Heavy crew chiefs don’t like them because they’re too loud.
