The Roman church has not only banned this mass (at the Council of Trent) but is going out of its way to restrict any celebration of the traditional mass.

​@@willx9352The Council of Trent allowed any rite of Mass that was 200 years or older at the time to remain in circulation which included the Sarum Rite. Secondly, the Traditional Latin Mass will outlive Francis and his petulant reign. Lastly, what's your point? You lament the loss of Catholic patrimony by deriding Roman Catholicism? Bizarre.

Contrary to what you may have thought, Henry VIII actually promoted the Sarum Rite rather than suppressing it. It gained even more popularity after the dissolution of monasteries. Notably, in 1543, the Sarum Breviary was mandated as the liturgy of daily offices at all churches in England. It was not until 1549, 2 years after the death of Henry, the reformed English liturgy of the book of common prayer replaced the Latin use of Salisbury.

The English Reformation was necessary but very costly both in lives and in the patrimony of the English (Anglican) Church. The losses were immense because we live in a fallen world and this is why reform of the English church was so costly. For Henry the VIII his main interest and concern was maintaining the Tudor dynasty. Had Catherine of Aragon’s male heir the Duke of Cornwall lived then the course of English History would have been different.

@@mangogarlic - no it isn't for everyone. To each their own opinion. Personally, I like it but our choir is contemporary - we also have a traditional choir. I like all genres....

It would get boring for a modern audience which looks to music for just entertainment. But in the medieval era, the purpose of music was to lift up the mind to God. They would have been praying their rosaries, reading their primer book prayers, or simply meditating. We need less pop Christianity and more transcendental mystical Christianity.

@@mosesking2923 our choir is not "pop christianity" we have a diverse community - old, middle aged, parents with young families & young people. They come up to us at the end of mass & say how uplifted they were. We do also have a more traditional mass which is also very nice. I respect all genres. God Bless 🙏
