15:20 The "properties of Avene water" are the same as the properties of Uriage and LA Roche Posay waters, for example. Those pharmacy French brands are named after the location of the thermal springs from where they source it, and they tend to base all their products around the properties of their mineral water.

This is not entirely correct, these waters have different mineral compositions and therefore different properties.

@@PeaceNinja007 Derms generally warn you against this, as you would not be sure that you're getting the real thing. They might be expired or even toxic. I believe even Shereene says that Amazon is not where you should buy your skin care from. The other thing is that when they are on Amazon, they're often twice the price or more.

@@carob3323 Oh .. I mean like everyday over the counter products like say a Neutrogena face wash or something. I personally use the most simplest, minimalist and weird products for my personal skincare lol For example, I use pure glycerine and sometimes Vicks Vapor Rub as my general moisturizer after a shower. Sometimes my local store is out of stock on these items .. so I order on Amazon. I definitely wouldn’t buy anything that requires a prescription from Dermatologist off of Amazon lol
@carob33232 жыл бұрын
@@PeaceNinja007 I meant more products with active ingredients, not simple ones. Many cosmetic ingredients are banned in the EU so we don't find the same products. Even something like Aveeno, which Shereene talks about all the time, can't be found here (if I remember correctly). Sometimes even a few products from the French brands that she mentioned, like Avène and La Roche Posay don't exist here either, because they contain an active that is banned or not used at such high percentages here. We just have different stuff in Europe, so it's nice when we can actually find what US derms love and recommend! And this time, all the ones she mentioned were familiar. 😊

Now that I introduce lactic acid to my night routine, I'm using A313 5 times a week and lactic acid 2 times a week. I've seen a lot of improvement on my face. My skin tone is much more even. I love when you add French words here in there in your videos! Your accent is super charming, so no reason to feel self-conscious about it (I'm from Québec so you'd probably frown at my own accent haha)! About the Toleriane line in LaRoche-Posay, I don't know if this is the way they intended, but as a French-Quebecker I interpreted that name as being a play on the word tolérance, and since it's for sensitive skin I assume they're trying to promote that it'll build skin's tolerance... but I didn't do any further research on this.

@@EmilyS1898 My only French recommendation basically just agrees with Dr Idriss: LaRoche-Posay! Specifically, there are 3 products in their Cicaplast line (including the baume B5) that have really worked magic for me! I apply the hand cream, lipsil and baume b5 everywhere I have eczema (+lips) right before bed, and when I wake up my skin is NEW (I don't reapply hand cream in the day, so I get all cracked by bedtime, to give you an idea). They also have a nice, dry-touch sunscreen that keeps the skin matte (this brand's sunscreen is highly recommended by dermatologists). I'm ashamed to say that I don't even know any skincare from here though :( . I'm pretty sure every single drugstore in Quebec has the big French brands ;) LaRoche-Posay, Uriace, Avène, Bioderma, etc...

Your french accent is actually pretty great, you should be proud! And I agree Biafine is a must-have! For a little while, I low-key wanted it to just be an over-hyped classic product from my childhood, but I've come to accept that it just works better than most remedies for superficial wounds and burns. Also, someone recommended to me Metroruboril A.Z by Isispharma, a newer french brand. It has 15% Azelaic Acid (for an OTC product, I guess the legislation in France is different) and it's apparently pretty good!

Guys. This Biafine creme is indeed amazing and it wasn‘t even because of Sheerene that I found that creme but because of my mother. I got a bad sunburn (I know I know.. didn‘t realize how strong the sun would be even though I was reapplying my sun creame regularly) and used Biafine to help the redness, itchiness and everything. Let me tell you - it did a miracle! The day after, after reapplying biafine various times, my burnt skin didn‘t even look red anymore! It. Is. Amazing.

I also used this routine when I got injured in sports (sprained ankles, bad bruises, etc). Dear Shereen, can you please make a difference between homeopathy and plant cosmetics? As a chemist I can clearly state that homeopathy : so diluted it has no treatment molecules in it, placebo effect only, BUT plant medication: has effects (and side effects) like any other chemical molecule for treatment. I love calendula e.g. it makes bruises heal so fast! No comparison to the worthless homeopathic stuff ... Love Saturdays because of your videos ❤️
@sheenajae2 жыл бұрын
It's my understanding that "weak" homeopathic formulations (ie MORE concentrated formulations) containing botanicals can be potentially effective, just not by the nonsensical mechanisms that homeopathy states.
@ammonitelight2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the dilution strength- many are diluted to oblivion, but some aren't. For example, Boiron's Arnicare bruise gel uses a 1X dilution of arnica, which is a 1:10 dilution, so there's still plenty of molecules left (it also smells like arnica, so there's enough arnica in it to have an odor). Homeoplasmine doesn't actually list homeopathic dilutions. It lists all the ingredients in grams. So, it's technically just a botanical based ointment. :)

correct. Homeopathy is quackery. It's just bottled water for gullible consumers. It's not banned simply because it's harmless and governments are not concerned with people wasting money, they just care about harm. In fact if homeopathic products were actually diluted according to the rules of homeopathy, there is not enough water on planet earth to do so. Mathematicians and skeptics have already done the calculations.

@@BifolikaDesigns I would start with 2x a week at night. Move up from there until it's every night. Remember to PLEASE use sun block 50+ broad spectrum, with this and ALL actives. But.. Sunblock should already be a staple in EVERYBODIES skin care regime regardless. I hope this helps.

Interesting to hear your take on A313! I had been using tretinoin from my dermatologist for a few years, but after a trip to France in fall 2019 I picked up some of this and decided to give it a try, and have been using it ever since. I was worried that it wouldn’t do anything considering how supposedly weak it is, but my skin has been looking really good. And I have definitely noticed that morning after glow, but that certainly makes sense if it’s more to do with the moisturizing base than the actual actives. I like dotting it on my face, then gently rubbing it in, then covering it with a layer of LRP Cicaplast Baume. PS if your French is considered terrible, then mine is tragique!

I have used tretinion for over 3 yrs just ordered A313. Wondering have you stopped using tretinion completely and replaced with A313?

Bioderma Sensibio Foaming Gel Moussant (the gel cleanser) is my most favorite cleanser of all time. It’s a robust cleanser while being gentle and actually cleanse my sunscreen more effectively than other gentle cleansers like Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser or Cerave Hydrating Cleanser.

Absolutely agree! I have been repurchasing this for a while because its the only cleanser I trust for my sensitive skin. Very gentle and good price value ratio !!

Is it the Gel Moussant Micellaire? around €12 for 500ml? I want to make sure because that's the only one I see on my local pharmacy's website!

Dr Idriss - love, love, love your channel. Just a comment that although Homeoplasmine is characterized as homeopathic, it’s actually a natural health (botanical) product in my humble pharmacist’s opinion…this is actually a good thing, because « real » homeopathic products dilute active ingredients so much that I just can’t get behind the absence of science for those. Keep up the great content!

Yes caudalie doesn't get enough love by youtubers! Simple products that do what they need to do with not an excess in actives which makes them perfect for sensitive skin :) I use the oil cleaner, the vinosource hydra mask, the sos hydra serum and body butter very regularly. Besides that big fan of Avène Intense protect sunscreen, Embryolisse hydrating crème, LRP cicaplast and Louis Widmer All Day sunscreen for my body.

I cannot live without the Cicalfate +, my dermatologist prescribed it to me for my severe eczema, and it works like magic. I have been using it for 6 years now! It stops the itching as soon as I apply it on and it helps repair and restore the skin barrier. I recently started using it on my face, and I like how it feels! I have a veery sensitive skin and everything I use (shampoos, creams, fabrics...you name it) irritates it, but this one doesn't. If you have eczema...give it a try.

Biafine, a classic in France, I don't think I know a single person who doesn't have a tube of this at home. I remember my mom slathering it on my sunburns where I was little. Instant soothing effect. My favourite brands from here are definitely La Roche Posay et Avène. I once read an article about the centre thermal d'Avène, it looks amazing, and doctors send people who suffer from high degree burns there, to help their recovery. P.S: your accent is amazing!!! It sounds really smart, you could present the evening news :)

Love all of the brands mentioned in the video, many of which I have been using for years. When talking about the French brands, would add the Uriage one, almost no one mentions on the net. Yes, Europe is a liitle bit on the fragrance side. However, the formulations are well researched and science based. Of course, not all fragrances suit all skin issues, thus I consult my longtime dermatologist on these, since each individual's skin is, well, individual 😊 which also means that my or anybody else's skin is constantly changing (hormones, age, seasons, certain medical conditions, stress, etc, etc). But would also genuinely recommend a selection of URIAGE products as well. ❤P.S. Uriage thermal water is fragrance free and EXQUISITE for all seasons, coming from thermal springs as well + the rest of the ingredients list additionally enhancing other products' effectiveness. Besides that, it comes in all sizes. I'm always carrying one in my purse.
