My favorite part of these is Watson welcoming the host into his fireplace-crackling room from a hundred years ago. I can see it with my *ears* and love what I see.

These are absolutely superb!! I have listened to these OTR Sherlock Holmes repeatedly on other KZbin channels. Glad to have this one show up in my recommends. Sometimes I have to skip through my least favorite episodes, thus far all are wonderfully entertaining and intriguing. Thoroughly enjoy the commercials too! Many thanks to those responsible for these many hours of great OTR Sherlock Holmes' episodes! Bravo! 👏👏👏💕 Blessings to all!

@@thelatelatehorrorshow thank you I appreciate it . I have a question were the radio shows back then just the audio from the movies? Or done at another time? Thank you
@missjeanferalcatsrmylife53359 ай бұрын
@georgeatlarge To my understanding, these were actually radio programs broadcast from a studio. Have been listening to these OTR Sherlock Holmes' episodes for quite a number of years since being "introduced" via Sirius radio. These broadcasts are very interesting and many are intriguing. Enjoy!!

Good for sleep too. The only commercials are at the start. During playtime, the "commercials" are vintage, they are the original radio commercials read by the narrator and are not jaring - so it's a charming WIN even if you fall asleep :)

10:55:10 - "manufacturer of artificial kneecaps"!? In 1890!?
@paeganshadow Жыл бұрын
Unbelievable I know but artificial bone replacement was first used in mid 1800's. Not the plastics obviously but bone joints, usually animal bone, like ivory. Conan Doyle based sherlock holmes on a Scottish Dr, so I'm assuming he got all the latest techniques and instruments from Dr Bell x

I understand why Basil got tired of playing Sherlock Holmes and ceded it for Tom Conway, and Tom actually sounds very similar to Basil, so its not too noticeable, at first I couldn't tell until the announcer read Tom's name out to the audience.

Tom Conway is brilliant as Holmes .. it took me ages to realise it wasn't Basil Rathbone. I love all these, I'm definitely getting old. When I first heard these old stories they were thirty years old (which seems a lot) now they are eighty years old. I'll be gone soon, seems strange.

Thank you for all you do with these shows. I have a request. I get that time stamps may be difficult to do, and that the mystery mixes may appeal to some people. But for these mystery mixes could you at least somehow list the start times for each episode? On these mixes where it’s all episodes from one show (like this one), it’s not as difficult to tell when the next episodes will start, but on some others like particularly the horror ones (which are my favorite genre of the radio shows) it’s virtually impossible to tell when and where the next shows start and stop unless you are fully awake and paying attention the whole time. If you fall asleep at any point it can be very hard to find where you left off given that those streams usually include shows of lengths varying between 20-60 minutes, and even knowing which show is normally what length also doesn’t help much as sometimes the uploads/episodes will have the show’s original commercials included while others will not. So it can make it hard to know when the next show is coming (even if you try to just manually skip around within the video later on) hard to pick up where you left off if you fell asleep, and hard to avoid listening to episodes you might have already heard before to try to hear something you haven’t. So even if just start times (not episode/show names or further details) are included, that would be very helpful for listeners like myself in avoiding some of the situations I described above. But obviously churning out as much content as you do must be extremely time consuming, so thank you again for all you do.
