I dont understand why everyone cant just ignore the numbers and be so appreciate to see another Sherlock Holmes show. I love every one of them. I have seen this one before but i enjoy seeing it again.

Lovely to see this again. It was not a true episode of SH but a short special made for a charity event which ran, for a few years, in the UK to raise money to help ill or disadvantaged children. Many well known tv characters or shows were involved in short sketches or specials to encourage people to donate...hence the constant telephone number and messages onscreen. Jeremy was a wonderful man and it's great to see this after all these years.

Poor Jeremy Brett. Kept working despite poor health. The meds bloated his face. Lost him far too early. Edward Hardwick a definitive Watson! Never seen this before so its a treat.

Love that violin theme, brings back all the memories of the great Brett in his previous episodes. Alas, there seems to be no second or third part. Jeremy looks quite tired and sickly here, I assume from his heart condition, died way too soon.

the next part of the story is with taggart and final part is with inspector wexford - a special for tv. this is the only part of the story with Holmes and watson.

I love that they released one more mini-chapter. We can't get enough of Jeremy Brett. I also love that they allowed us to know a little more about Holmes´ personal life by introducing us to a member of his family. I can imagine our poor Holmes growing up isolated in such a cold mansion, developing that wonderful intellect that would later fascinate the world. And I love how Watson, no matter how much time passes, will always defend his friend, even from his own family. They are adorable. Holmes and Watson are the real family here. I know we was very sick, but I just wish Jeremy had shown us a little more of the affection he had for Watson when treating him, as he did in the first episodes, only now it should be more even more because over the years they became a lot closer. I love them!

Lady Cordalia of Tunlaw, Sherlock's godmother, formidable and long lived like the mighty oak on the Holmes Family Crest in my fan-fic. The country seat of Great Tunlaw Hall ehe? In the little town of Tunlaw? Interesting. Another bit of information I found out about Sherlock's family.

I suspect this little piece was written with a certain tongue-in-cheek, gently at the expense of the Granada series. Not quite a parody but a bit of understated poking fun.

Not exactly ‘understated’. Some of the acting is OTT silly.

From what Conan Doyle story does this come from? I don't recognize it from the "Canon" of the 56 short stories or the four novels the author wrote starring his most famous character. I also cannot recall ever viewing it on the Granada TV series of Holmes tales with Jeremy Brett. Edward Hardwicke was the second actor to play Watson in the Granada series. He passed away not long ago and was the son of the famous British actor Sir Cedric Hardwicke.

Bad acting and writing at the opening, especially the "murder most foul." The story, of course, was not written by Conan Doyle and it shows. Nice sets and Holmes and Watson are in good form, which does somewhat save this from being a camp like disaster.

+Bobbi Anne Casey they originate from a strange, mystical technology whereby messages were transmitted, through the very airwaves! It was named 'television'. In later times, material originating from this so-called 'television' reappeared on our internet of today.
