Actually, Doyle seemed to have thought Sherlock Holmes stories were kinda a waste of his time. So if you showed him this video, he might be a little touched (it is his brainchild after all), but he'd be horrified in equal measure, if not more. He said, and I quote: “If in 100 years I am only known as the man who invented Sherlock Holmes then I will have considered my life a failure.” He'd hoped people would focus on and immortalize other things than Sherlock. xD

ironically he probably would've hated all of it given the fact that he couldn't stand to be remembered for this. he probably would've given kudos to the writers of the remakes for making good work, but annoyed that sherlock was so popular.

@Elsa Nikander Molly, not by visuals but by narrations, she describes the very essence of Sherlock, she despite not being form the original canon gets him and fits right into the ACD Sherlock universe

Brilliant! They each bring something different to the role, but there really is only 1 Sherlock. Where was Basil Rathbone? Oddly enough Jeremy Brett was a family friend of the Cumberbatches. Doyle, in a character that you hated, you have given us so much. You widened our horizons & taught us to think & keep our eyes wide open. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

jjjuser1 Brett was the best Sherlock. He mastered the role so perfectly. It is really sad what happened off screen to him. An underlying illness, bipolar disorder. This would cause him to take medication that would change his appearance and overall physicality. But Jeremy Brett will always be the best and wisest Sherlock the world ever had. Thanks Jeremy for everything ❤️

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle actually said that ‘If I’m known only as the person who created Sherlock Holmes, I would consider my life as a complete failure’ And I don’t get that because Sherlock is a masterpiece, a legend, even if fictional, it’s such a solid story

Because great men want to be recognized as great men for who they are and everything they do. Not one single work. He wanted to prove to himself and others that he could do so much more. Not just being Mr Sherlock Holmes creator. And in the end people remember just this one character more than him or his entire work. Thats one of the reasons.
