@@orbit4ever Mary did her best to reconcile John with Sherlock both before and after she died. She had saved John's life after Reichenbach I'm sure, and she saved Sherlock's life even though it was Sherlock's words that provoked the secretary to shoot. She might have been a little selfish at times and made a few mistakes, but ultimately she's good and deserves more love than the fandom tends to give her.

i’m crying right now thinking about just how broken sherlock was without john there. he couldn’t focus anymore, he couldn’t be himself. he’s jealous, whether platonically or romantically (in my opinion both)

But in trying to protect John he hurt John more than anyone else ever did by faking his death. I honestly believe if Reichenbach hadn't happened that 'johnlock' would've become canon. But Sherlock hurt John faking his death, and even in coming back that was salt in the wound to John. And the wound never could heal so while Sherlock will always have his never ending love for Watson John remains at arms length away, forever friends but nothing more.
