💚💚💚 thank you for another remarkable recording. I notice that many of your listeners (myself included) are dealing with health issues and use you fantastic work as a soothing tool. It cannot be overstated how grateful we are for the lack of midroll ads. Most of us are trying to sleep and get relief from pain. I had almost given up on audiobooks on KZbin, bacause I couldn't handle the literal panic attacks I'd wake up to, while some bank commercial is blasting in my earpods 🥴 A million times over, thank you!

Or, panic attacks when the narrator suddenly starts screaming. Greg never overdoes it. Totally agreed!

Just realized that if this was published in 1914, we need to picture Ethel Harrogate in a long and narrow skirt, with her hair tied in a loose bun on the top of her head and wearing a big hat with flowers on it. Thank you so much for recording, and wishing you a cheerful, cozy and colourful autumn! 🙂

Spot on. That’s Ethel. Not euphonious as names go!

@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio Oh yeah, that's true! You would notice that. Interesting how one's profession shapes the way one perceives a text. I'm a translator, so I notice the name "Ethel Harrogate" LOOKS good, as Chesterton probably intended. When written, it exudes beauty as well as power and dignity. But when it comes to pronouncing it... 😄

I enjoyed this one very much ….once again‘ol GK.s convoluted plot and waspish humour prevented my guessing the outcome……splendid….definitely worth a second go.

You are by far the most relaxing and enjoyable reader I’ve come across. So few know how to modulate their voice, not rush through the text, use inflection. It’s so nice to hear your stories. Thanks so much for taking the time :-)

Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU, Mr. Wagland. Following a mass murder at a university (still can´t believe it; there hadn´t been a mass murder at a Czech university in *seven hundred years*, except during the Nazi occupation) where my friends work and a colleague was shot, my brain was like an interplanetary rocket on steroids. I couldn´t sleep or settle to anything, and was going completely crazy. Then I tried listening to this story, even though I don´t normally use Your stories as a sleeping draft. And it calmed me down! I like this story because it´s fun and it isn´t violent. Your voice is very clear but also calming, the emotions are just hinted at rather than overdone, which was ideal. Can´t thank You enough!

What a terrible event! What of the perpetrator? Mental health issues no doubt. Thoughts and prayers to all involved.

I'm so sorry that happened and you lost a colleague! It's horrible to lose a sense of safety in your environment.
@martavdz4972 Жыл бұрын
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio Thank You for the empathy! Everybody wants to know about the perpetrator but the police aren´t disclosing much. He wasn´t linked to any international organization. But I just want to continue the work of my colleague. Because it seems very important that the murderer doesn´t win. The people he killed were wonderful, kind and accomplished, we should emphasize the work in sign language, journalism, music, Estonian, Finnish and Swedish Studies... (those were the departments he killed in) I´ve started learning Estonian 🙂

@@maryeckel9682 It is, completely unthinkable in Czechia, one of the safest countries in the world. It´s been 3 weeks and it still feels as utterly and horribly absurd as aliens landing in Buckingham Palace and shaving all the corgies. Thank you! ❤

Enjoyed this, thank you...we are getting spoiled! I notice that the early stories are told from the pov of Father Brown, but become third person narrative in later tales. I mean I enjoy them all, but lean towards the early ones where we get a real sense of Brown's adorable quirkiness ❤❤ EDIT: Beautifully natrated as always!
