Side note: pistons from most engines don't fire in sequence front to back but more spread out to reduce the forces on the crankshaft (1-3-4-2-1-3-4-2 for a bank with 4 pistons)

Well, I did it the way Lego does those engines - If I didn't make a mistake, the crankshaft order is the same as in the 42128's engine. Actually single block is based off of the inline 6 in that set, I just rounded the corners and put two together.

@@SaperPl1 I've modified (and motorized) my 42110 engine to run a more realistic sequence 15-3-26-4 (I've grouped 1 and 5 together and also 2 and 6 because you can only place cams at 90 degrees on a lego shaft)

OmG, your work is so fascinating. Unfortunately, I don't have that much time to rebuild all of them, but it's always a pleasure for me to see what extraordinary solutions you come up with. Great work!

Could you not put some half width beams across the top of the bogies and onto the chassis? I feel like that could help with the wobble, at least a bit.
@SaperPl1 Жыл бұрын
It makes sense, but those need solid attachment point as well and in the middle there will be the turntable for the turret basket.

If you powered the fake engine with motor and used a servo to brake differentials, wouldn't that work exactly as in real sherman?
@SaperPl1 Жыл бұрын
I did that in previous version, you can check out my previous videos, but breaking mechanism takes a lot of space and also this means single motor pulling whole thing while servo takes a lot of space for just switching inputs. And yeah, if you want it to be just like the real sherman, that's kind of whole different level of complexity as it had levels of breaking of the differential and nested differential inside a differential kind of steering.

So it is actually a single speed regenerative steering like real sherman but approched using different method right?
@SaperPl14 ай бұрын
I'm trying to achieve that, but in this version there's a problem - when you don't give power to the motor, and the model is heavy, the path of least resistance at some point when steering is to spin the turned off motor instead of it working like a break. I will have to update the chassis to simpler concept, just've been waiting for some parts to become available.

That's looking good 👍 Do you plan on finishing the outside with mostly technic? Or mostly system?
@SaperPl1 Жыл бұрын
If it were to be the M4A1 which has cast hull, then it would be a definite yes, but I made the fake piston engine from M4A4 which had welded armour plate hull and I may need to use more system parts for this. I'm not yet sure about this though. Maybe I'll end up with a mix of M4A1 and M4A4.

@@SaperPl1 didnt the m4a4 had the multibank engine. (5 car engines combine into one big one?)

Yo what kinda sherman are you building (I play war thunder american tanks)
@SaperPl1 Жыл бұрын
It will most likely be M4A4 because of that engine. I wanted to make M4A1 (the cast hull) as technic panels allow for some good curvature at the back of the hull, but creating the matching radial engine would be really hard at this scale.
