Brave attempt at what many would consider a classic show with un believable winds parts. Hard to compare to the original

Brave indeed! Harmony Journey is pretty iconic, particularly for the mello parts (which this band pulls off fairly well).

Wow. Wow. Wow. Get it Sherman! This is AMAZING and SO incredibly brave to do. That opening was phenomenal. Phantom should be proud!!

My high just did a version of Harmonic Journey as well, except we called it "Symphonic Journey"

I understand how the directors wanted to pay homage to Phantom Regiment's 2003 show, and this is one of the finest sounds I've ever heard from a marching band, but the directors should have put more of an effort to the music than simply adding woodwind parts that mirror the original brass. It's almost as if they ripped off the entire movement, along with the theme of the single guard member in front at the end, simply changing the drill to an easier feat for the band.

What did you want us to do?? It is high school you are graded on winds also??? You are ripping us for no reason. Do you understand how hard the music was for 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 year olds to play?? The trumpet parts were insanely high it was ridiculous. We weren't a fucking drum corps regiment my dude.

@@ItsHow1e they’re not commenting on the performance at all. This sounds great actually. His criticism was for the music designers 👍

this is awesome for a high school band, even if it's true that nothing could beat the original version from Phantom. Great job! (and go mellos!)

Did thet srsly just straight up copy the dci show? Not saying it was a bad performance but srsly??
@Striker2able9 жыл бұрын
Although I know high school bands most often use DCI ideas, they pretty much copied Phantom Regiment's show. I liked the ballad substitute though

This is so bad I can't even describe it. It's like a mixture between a train horn and clumsy people falling and not knowing when to put their horns up or down. I'm down right embarrassed because my schools woodwind instructor was the head drum major for this show for phantom in 2003.
@SDRailfan10 жыл бұрын
You're so lucky to know the head drum major for PR2003. That was and still is my favorite show that any drum corps has done. Please thank him for me.

But for high-schoolers, this sounded really nice.
@Dynam1cDr3w9 жыл бұрын
+MrLambo234 Isn't that a little harsh? Sure, the visual aspects are rough, but musically, (even for high-schoolers) they did an incredible job executing such a demanding piece of music literature. PLUS: the description says this was the FIRST TIME that they ever ran the full show. Give credit where credit is due, please.
@Ashleigh_Gradel8 жыл бұрын
+MrLambo234 If you read the description, you'll see that this was their first time in full uniform. Maybe you went to some super school that was always perfect, but even my band that won three state championships didn't look this good when we put on full uniform for the first time. Of course there are going to be tonality issues and endurance problems, and yes, there will probably visual lapses too. Considering that this was from September 28th, I'm sure this band looked much better by the time state finals rolled around.

MrLambo234 I was a Senior Trumpet in this show and I dont think you understand how much stamina and skill this show takes. For god sakes we were in High School. Not sure how we disrespected this show but I think for a bunch of high school kids playing trumpet parts that are insane this was pretty good. Our mellos destroyed this show top to bottom. We had a pretty bad drill writer that is why he got fired the year after but I mean come on bro cut us some slack.
