Yep. The trick is airing down your tires to about 5 psi to drive on sand. It gives you a wider footprint so you don't sink as much and better traction.

Sometimes doing things on your own are good for the soul. I was always terrified of doing things alone until I actually did it and it started to be something I love. Just to get out and find yourself pretty much.

Good choice on skipping the mid day sun. You would be surprised how many northerners come to South Fla and spend the whole day on the beach or golf course or whatever only to spend the next couple of days in agony regretting their decision.

Alex you are absolutely glowing. I love that you're having such a great time. I used to drive on the beach when I lived on the coast. It can be quite harrowing. You fid an amazing job but get those e brakes checked. The snorkeling scenes were so beautiful and so was Tara perched up on that rock. Have you any plans to check out LA Paz? I love the beaches there however, it's not as secluded as it used to be. Be safe no matter what and have a beautiful week ❤

Yes, you can drive in reverse with the E-brake on. It will drag. If you have the E-brake on and put the truck in gear (don’t touch the gas), the truck shouldn’t go anywhere. This means the E-brake is adjusted correctly. Good job in the sand.

Great job driving in the sand. I found myself saying, “go, go, go”. I once got my van stuck, in the sand and it cost $125 to get it pulled out. But, the tow truck driver was awesome and told me the tools to have should I get stuck and to go, go, go. Your Mexico adventures look awesome!

Your self inflicted anxious panic pre attempt is funny....kinda like you've already imagined the worst and nervously attempt to alter the near future with overwhelming worry...if that makes sense...lol. The only way to know your 4 wheel drive capabilities is to exceed its limits and know how to recover in many different senerio's! It's just a learning curve....but ya made it funny with how proud ya were to get out of there! Good job..👍

I'm sure somebody's always suggested it, but get an air down system and a good compressor will make all the difference in the world when you're out there in that loose gravel and sand. We've traveled the Baja for years and that's how we get out on those beaches that we have to ourselves.
@Beer302477 ай бұрын
Good to carry bucket use it to fill up seawater fill your holes where your tires are at all four two wheel drive or four-wheel drive whatever direction you're going pour the water out that direction Sand will compact down you could drive straight out easier than max tracks if you're near a body of water if not and you got plenty of water on board sacrifice to get out not all your water but most drive careful drink a few beers for me USMC for life

Snorkeling with my dog just made my bucket list. I grew up chasing antelope off grid in an old Scout International. Great job with your truck. Did everything right. 🤙🏼 except for those eggs
@Canthus137 ай бұрын
If I'm gonna be driving rough areas, I bring my eggs up front and they stay on the floorboard with a pillow on top and one underneath. Also, sand driving usually calls for 16-25psi, so even in your heavy rig you could go lower if needed.

Your air down wasn't enough to do any good. To air down enough to do any good you should have been to about 8 to 10 lbs.. The same holds true for sand or snow.

If you're going off roading, especially in sand, you need to air down your tires. In sand you want to air down to about 5 psi. Off road usually around 15 psi is good. By airing down you get a wider footprint from your tires and better traction. The wider footprint also keeps you on top of the sand instead of digging into it and getting stuck. Be safe!!
@SheRoamsWild7 ай бұрын
thanks for the tip! I did, just not enough it seems to make a huge difference - that said, I'm glad I didnt since my compressor went out! Can't wait to get better tools back home to really give things a go.

@@SheRoamsWild if it's in your budget, get yourself an ARB onboard air compressor. It mounts in the engine compartment so it's out of the way. You just need to store the hose and attachments somewhere. It's a real nice system. Quadratec has the full twin onboard system kit on sale for $616 right now.
