Arsenio was a bit before my time, but when I hit adulthood I started watching interviews with more interesting celebrities, and Arsenio is one of the best at getting someone to be comfortable and talk about the things that are truly important to them. I also watched a lot of Dick Cavett interviews, and that's who Arsenio reminds me of. His interviews aren't about just getting laughs or promoting a new film/album, they're about getting to know the person. And yes, when I was a kid, I remember him being really popular for a short time, then kind of disappearing, but it really feels like he's a very underrated interviewer, and one of the best I've seen. Maybe it's time to get him back into his own show?

When asked about the obvious her imitation "tributes" to Cyndi Lauper, Madonna turned it around to say that its common for artists to copy each other, inherently admitting to taking numerous stuffs from Cyndi in terms of music and fashion ... But you can sense that Madonna did admire Cyndi Lauper's artistic styles, so it should be quite a high praise to Cyndi considering Madonna's no slouch in her tastes ... In the later years Cyndi did return the favour in some instances, spotting some of Madonna's stuffs in return ...

By this time in 1989 MADONNA was way ahead of Cyndi Lauper, sound ,image , controversy with Like a Prayer, madonna didn't copy her. Hell Cyndi did some LAP n express yourself video in her i drove all night .. however I adore Cyndi Lauper..

But Madonna did copy Cyndi a year later with her Vogue Music Video which I read used Vargas Girl Poses, bc Cyndi did a Tour Calendar with Vargas Girl Poses the year before, so often Cyndi did something and Madonna would do the same thing later like that (it was very annoying at the time but I'm not going to make a big deal about it now).

Madonna's true talent was spotting which talent to work with, she's been known for soughting out the "in" hot new artists of the day to collaborate which gave her new sounds to albums such as Ray Of Light .... and her self-marketing through making controversial news headlines. Cyndi, meanwhile had a series of falling out with her producer boyfriend and her label ... during and after the split she was almost on her own lacking financial support to promote her really great albums which received very little attentions .... As a fan of both of them who bought their albums, I can say that they had an equally strong set of songs even though Cyndi's did not sell well. Somehow, despite not being a big seller like Madonna, Cyndi managed to still get a lot of support as someone who is at least as big a talent as Madonna till this day. You can see it in discussion boards online everywhere. Myself, I did a list of songs that I regard as tier A from each of them and came up with almost equal number of songs I love from them (about 20-25 songs from each of them), currenly Cyndi Lauper is slightly ahead with about 25 songs and Madonna with about 21 songs ... it surprises me that despite Cyndi's lower volume music output, she still manages to produce a high ratio of great stuffs... With Madonna, her quality of output has gone down in the last few albums, I say it with sadness because I do love a lot of her earlier music ... I think she can still potentially find new talents to make hits for her given her clout....

@@sherri419 Yes, I remember Cyndi wore a chandelier head gear for her True Colors mv, later on Madonna was photographed also wearing a chandelier head gear (except it was black color) during her concert performance... Before Madonna started wearing bra in her concerts, Cyndi was already wearing corsettes as her outfits ... but somehow Madonna was the one who got credited for that style choice ... Of course I'm not saying that Cyndi was the first to do those things in history, its just a little too much of coincidence that Madonna did those things not longer after Cyndi did them ... After Cyndi's 1983 Girls Just Wanna Have Fun became a hit, Madonna took a segment of taht song (the "bubble gum" segment of the mv) and inserted it into the extended version of her 1984 Like A Virgin song .... I don't think anyone noticed it, but I did, that segment immediately stood out to me for its similarity to Cyndi's earlier song .... There are more stuffs ... Madonna did admit to referencing Cyndi but she did so unapologetically saying that its common for artists to copy each other ....

Vibe is an okay movie, the best part of it was Cyndi of course, she is/was so infectious. I almost think it's a part she is playing of a kooky, flighty young girl when being interviewed, but even so there is still a lot of the real person in there. This girl got a large scoop of talent and has a great stage presence, and best of all she was a barefoot girl giving it her all when she performances.
