I was 12 in 1987. This track takes me back to those early mornings walks to school, with it playing on my Walkman. New York's 98.7 Kiss FM played this a lot. R.I.P. Sherrick. One of those missed treasures.

Midwin Harris I was almost 9 years old when this song came out. I would hear the song on BET, or a radio station called a.m. 1310KDIA. I wondered for many years who was singing the song when I was getting older. Well, I know who it is now and I have been looking for it forever. I love and appreciate the songs from the 60s all the way up to the 90s. Well, some of the 2000s as well. Some of the new stuff is crap. I bet that you are asking yourself, what do I know about this music. Well, I was born in 78 and thanks to my mother, and grandmother who has left this earth for turning me onto good music. I am trying to get my three nieces into old school music. They love the new stuff that is pretty nonsense. Well, my baby niece believe it or not Love James Brown and she is only eight years of age.
@midwinharris36407 жыл бұрын
Awww, Kanyanda, thanks for sharing your story. And, your niece knows great music when she hears it. You're the same age as my nephew. He too listens to the same music. We all know good music when we hear it. Like you, I listen to music from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and early 00's. Music nowadays is just noise. Even some of the younger generation like my 15-year-old niece can't deal with today's music. Thank goodness we have KZbin, Spotify, Pandora, etc...to go back and listen to the music we grew up on.
@kayandaeddings48037 жыл бұрын
Midwin Harris right? Well, like you said we know good music when we hear it. My sister however loves the new stuff. Well, she likes some of the old stuff but every now and then she would ask me why are you listening to that old stuff? I say to her, because it's the best. She is two years older than me and she was born in 1980. Don't get me started on the old-school Gospel. Now! That is the best as well.

Takes me back to late summer, 1987 in LA. I had just watched James Bond The Living Daylights at the Chinese Theater. I got the hook from the AHa theme tune stuck in my head and was going to head home and try to play it on my Yamaha DX7. I turned on the radio in my car and this song starts playing. I missed my turning, and just kept driving along the coast into the night, listening to this incredible song. Actually, I was born in 1989 in a different country, but this song has a powerful feel to it that takes me back to a time and place I didn't even exist. Can't stop listening!
