Jerez, in Andalusia, Spain, is the capital of sherry and fine wines, filling the city with wineries that stored liquor in vats accumulated for hundreds or even miles in different buildings. As time went by, many small producers were annexed to the large ones and disappeared due to competition and market unification in which only those who produced the most survived.
When these wineries went bankrupt, the buildings were left as empty department stores and have been purchased as an investment by other businesses that have settled there.
The Mercadona supermarket chain restored one of these warehouses and turned it into one of its sales centers.
The converted interior is curious with its product sales shelves where there used to be wine vats. And it is a way to do tourism by visiting one of these old wineries while you do your daily shopping.
