I have a many pictures and furniture that are dark wood. I can't afford to buy new things. I love my existing "stuff." Could I put my dark furniture with this color?

Hi Claire, Choosing paint colors is a task! I really have fallen in love with SW Sea salt and would like to know your recommendations for putting it all over the house as in the kitchen, living room, hallways, and two bedrooms. I originally had SW-Sea Salt for kitchen, SW- Comfort Grey for LR & HW & Oyster Bay for all the bedrooms. Can you tell me which makes more sense?
@ClaireJeffordConsulting4 жыл бұрын
Choosing colors can be tricky for sure! If you use a color in an entire house, 1) You have to really love it! 2) Be aware that it will look a little different in each room, depending on lighting and how you put it together with other decorative elements. Hope that makes sense!

Thank you for the information, very helpful. May I ask if my style is glam would this be suitable with pastel pink, gold, silver & creams/white? Or is this color meant for country, farmhouse or costal decor style only? Thank you.
@ClaireJeffordConsulting4 жыл бұрын
Great question Sabrina! The same color can be used successfully in a variety of styles, so don't worry about that aspect of choosing color. Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams paired with a pastel pink would make a lovely combination. Came across you videos and love them!! So helpful that you use such large color squares. Also, you are not short. You are petite. Short is a deficiency; short of time, money, patience, resources. You are not deficient. You are your full height. I'm 4'10". No one who calls me short ever says it twice.

Hi Claire! I am building new house and I was thinking to paint my entire house with Sherwin Williams Sea Salt - what a beautiful colour! :D I would like to paint my kitchen cabinets in white colour and the bathroom cabinets in colour grey. Hi Claire, would you recommend sea salt by SW to work with honey cabinets.
@ClaireJeffordConsulting6 жыл бұрын
The honey cabinets, unless they are really orange, tend to read as a neutral. Remember, it's more of the fixed elements within your space that you need to consider, like counter tops, tiles and back splash. But if these are all neutral and the large painted board looks great next to everything, I say go for it! Then tie in with nice complimentary accents such as a window treatment, dishes and accessories, etc, in similar tones as the Sea Salt.

I just got this paint for my house. I love it so far. I wanted healing aloe by Benjamin Moore. Let me know what you think about the comparison to those colors. Would love to know your opinion!!

From what I can see online, Healing Aloe looks a bit lighter and slightly more green.

My exterior house color is BM hale navy with BM chantilly lace trim. I have SW sea salt on my living room wall, SW fawn brindle on my kitchen wall, driftwood look (light brownish/gray) on my hard wood floors. Somewhat of an open concept in my living room/kitchen area but has a wall dividing them. That being said, I need help on my couch color. I have a young kiddo so light colored furniture are not what I need right now (though I would love it). I am REALLY wanting the Pottery Barn PB comfort square arm couch in "performance plush velvet in slate" which is blue. Will this work? I am also open to the "carbon" color that is more gray and could work. I have seen pictures of people complimenting sea salt with blue in their art or vases, but nothing as far as furniture. Help. :)

I typically start decorating projects with fabrics for pillows or window treatments, then put together a colour palette from there with options for sofa fabrics, area rugs, artwork etc. Grab your paint chips for each wall colour and go shopping to seek out a 'jumping off point' for pulling together a colour palette.
@maryduggan97763 жыл бұрын
Hi Claire, I'm actually curious about the BM Sea Salt you showed. :) I have MK's color boards but I don't have BM Sea Salt. I have a paint chip because I fell in love with this color at a lighting store I was in. I've compared it to the other grays to find the undertone, and it seems to shift from taupe, to voilet gray, to maybe green gray?? Can a color actually do this?? Lol Could you possibly tell me the undertone of this color, and would it work with Caesarstone Calacatta Nuvo countertop and white dove cabs? Thank you!!
@ClaireJeffordConsulting3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary. The Sea Salt by Benjamin Moore has a green undertone, Maria labels it as a 'greige'. It's similar in tone to Edgecomb Gray and Revere Pewter. Paint a large board if you want to see how it relates to the Caesarstone.
@stardroplet94996 жыл бұрын
This is very helpful and you included some other colors I was considering. I want a bathroom paint, like Sea Salt for a small bathroom that does not really get any light. Any recommendations? I was also thinking of trying healing aloe.
@ClaireJeffordConsulting6 жыл бұрын
If your bathroom is all white tile, then I would recommend choosing a 'jumping off point' before committing to a paint colour. For example, you'll want to pull colour inspiration from either a fabric of a window treatment or colour tones in artwork. If your tile or counter tops are not solely white, then you will need to look to those first as indicators of your colour choices. Check out this video where I show 'How to Choose Paint Colours' -->kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZTcnGeMaptprJo. Oh and I've never used Healing Aloe, so I cannot comment on that one. Cheers for watching!

I am trying sea salt in my bathroom (east facing) and with my tile (gold/yellow circa 2009) it looks awful! I hear people say I need a “warmer” blue, but I can’t seem to figure out what would look good with my tile. Any suggestions? Thank you! Subscribing to your channel, it’s fabulous!
@ClaireJeffordConsulting4 жыл бұрын
Hey Stacie, thanks for subscribing! Without seeing your tile, it's impossible to say what colour to paint the walls. Grab a bunch of paint chips that you think you might like to use and put it up to the tile. Narrow it down to a few best choices and then paint large colour boards of those colours to see which works best. It's always easier to see on a larger sample board.

Thanks for this great info! I'm wondering how you feel about an open concept home with Sea Salt next to a room with Accessible Beige? Do you have other suggestions for a beige/tan/linen ( anything with only a touch of grey, rather than all grey) that could complement well? Thanks very much!

Those colours will work well together. So would Revere Pewter if you are looking for something less 'gray'.

Nice video. Would have like to hear exactly what makes it look green (as in your room) or blue (my friend has her whole house painted Sea Salt and it is a beautiful light blue)?
@ClaireJeffordConsulting6 жыл бұрын
Hi Cindy. Sea Salt looks looks a bit more green where I am because I have an outdoor studio with a window and double glass doors. Therefore, I'm surrounded by grass and trees. I also have a teal painted ceiling in my studio. I touch on a similar idea in a recent IGTV video when looking at fabrics with Grays and beiges. Thank you for your comparison! I have a question and a request if possible. What was the name of the last color? Hail Navy? I LOVE that color. Also, would you recommend Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams paired with Oceanside by Sherwin Williams? I am wondering if these two would look good in my kitchen (Wall=Oceanside, tile and backsplash=Sea Salt, and cabinets=Requisite Gray or Repose Gray). Any thoughts on this combo and any way you can post a video with this combo? Thank you!!

Yes, Hale Navy is a Benjamin Moore colour. I love it too! Although I don't have all those SW colours you mention to hand just now, I looked up Oceanside and it would work with Sea Salt - great contrast yet complimentary. Just be sure that you are comfortable with a deep dark colour for your walls. I embrace that for sure, but understand it's not for everyone.
