I think this is what I love about this color. It changes with light SO MUCH. I just painted my nail studio which had a huge west facing window and I’m getting the blue undertone because…the window has heavy tint on it. Once I add some interior lights it will change again and be a huge topic for me and my clients to talk about. My flooring is a perfect grey. Jacob Just love the detailed explanation of the colours. For us average people who are not trained in the colour world and really helps. Love, love how you take us to different rooms, explain undertones and lighting. This video saved me from buying a sample size of sea salt🙁 2 questions If you have an undertone of ex. Green beige in your carpet, does this mean you are married to a green undertone in your paint? What if you have various undertones, good Lord how does one decide. Pick the lesser of the 2,3 maybe 4 or 5 evils? LOL Also with many of the paint colour reviews on tube, the paint colours all seem to be happy with lots of light. How does a person find a happy grey colour for dim or north rooms. I know myself and many others are searching for a video like this. Just some thoughts. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Sincerely. I am looking at staying away from plain grey for my living room and open staircase. I like the look of sea salt for a neutral with a slight pop of color. As my living room has cathedral ceilings and large south east facing windows, it sounds like this could work! Now I need a SW white/creme color to pair with it. I have a maple mantle with a multicolored brown brick fireplace accent wall that I want to paint a different color than the sea salt.
@JacobOwensDesigns5 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy😊 Sea Salt looks great with a lot of natural lighting but be sure the undertones in your room will coordinate with Sea Salt. I think it's fantastic that you want to paint your maple mantle and brick fireplace! It will transform your space instantly without having to do major renovation. As for a Sherwin Williams white paint that would depend on the type of interior decor and fixed elements you have in your space. I can't answer that because I don't have any visuals, you can always check out my website jacobowensdesigns.com. Typically I would pair Sea Salt with either a pure white or off white depending on the undertones I'm working with in any given room. Hope that helps! Thank you for your comment👍🏻

So after watching this video I'm not sure what color to paint our master bedroom? So I was really loving Sea Salt by SW because I thought it looked muted green and soft without overtaking the room But I also discovered Chime Gray by Magnolia Paints. I'm looking for color without it being overwhelming. Our bedroom is average size, with only one large sliding glass door for natural light. But often that glass door is covered with closed sun blocking curtains(facing west.) We are having the whole bedroom redone...new dark expresso brown furniture, baseboards and doors painted white and neutral colored carpet. I really like and want the green undertones more than the blues. As far as bedding...we have brand new comforter (mainly white & sage green, with a little light blues) for colder seasons. We also received a quilt (warmer weather)made for us (dark reds, various light and dark blues and creams/tans). So we will alternate between those based on seasons. With very little natural light, one large light fixture in the middle of the ceiling and 2 lamps on either size of our bed...do you have any suggestions on wall color??? Thx for your help!

Just painted our living area sea salt in our new home, after having painted repose gray and BM revere pewter in my last house. I had decided I wanted a little more color. I knew sea salt it had a greenish tone, but boy is it green. I guess the room is SW facing, townhome with no side windows, just large windows facing SW. It's a beautiful color, but probably would have picked something a little more subtle - BM Oyster Shell? One side looks very green, another wall looks lighter green almost like that hospital green look and then the dining area which has less light looks more blue. We like it, but would have liked something a little more subtle. I have a lot of beige and teal colors, dark brown furniture. Using white curtains, looks nice.

Or should I go lighter because it has the dark hardwood floors and dark wood headboard. Not sure if I should go light or dark. I have gorgeous dark hardwood floors (cool ash tones). I fell in love with Sea Salt after seeing it in one of the dream homes. I chose it for my son's nursery and paired it with whites and greys in the furniture. It's a North facing room under a tree and only one large window that sits high up so during times of low light it can lean much more greenish to almost khaki. I feel this is also because of the brown beige carpet and the candy blue colored ceiling with fake puffy looking clouds from the previous owners that I have yet to correct but during most of the day I still love the color even if it isn't the true green-grey I covet. After watching this I probably need to adjust the lighting as well but I am curious. When I paint the ceiling should I go more blue or grey given the lighting situation? We will hopefully be able to change out the flooring soon to a more neutral limed oak look if that matters.

I painted the exterior of my house (wood sidings) last summer in sea salt and I don't like it. I find it too light and plain. My house gets a lot of sunlight to the street. I find it plain and boring in all light conditions and all seasons. I already bought several buckets of sea salt paint for the second coat. Now I'm thinking if I could bring the paint back to SW to get more color mixed into it to turn it into a darker version of sea salt, maybe oyster bay. I would appreciate your suggestions. Btw the window and door frames and all trims are chantilly lace and for the window sashes I plan a mid to dark brown tone.

I wish I had seen this before I started painting. The spec house we bought was painted in SW Agreeable Gray (walls) and SW Alabaster (trim). In one room above the wainscoting they painted an accent area of SW Mega Greige which I didn’t like. So, I decided to paint SW Sea Salt over it (after priming it of course). Holy smokes! It looked so much more green gray than in the can which was a light robin’s egg blue color. It’s hard to believe it changes that much from the can to the wall! Chameleon color is right!!! My room kind of has a neat historic look to it so I’ll keep it for now but it was definitely shocking and unexpected.

Would this color work with accent walls? And how about repose grey with this?

I love sea salt in my bedroom and master bath. Building a new house now with ribs and tons of natural light and I was considering putting sea salt in every room. I’m picking out all colors for the house. Off White cabinets white / gray granite and hopefully a darker hardwood. So what’s your opinion about using it for the entire house??

Yikes, I wouldn't. You would then be very constrained in your color choices for linens, upholstery, towels, blankets, decor, rugs etc. You wouldn't be able to have any warm undertones in your decor -- no reds, oranges, yellows. I would just do it for very select rooms that get a lot of light and have few furniture or upholstery needs, unless you are ok with a coastal palette ONLY. Also note that it will make a cold house (or room) feel colder. I have Sea Salt in only a few places in my house -- the home office, which is flooded with light and only has a few pieces of furniture in white and gray -- and in my windowless laundry room at 50% saturation, which has no furniture inside or any real "decor" needs. For those rooms, it's great. I also painted my basement guest room with it, but I kind of regret it because I'm now forced to make it a 'coastal' room, and it's already a "colder" floor of the house as it is with limited natural light.

Does this pretty much apply to Wickham Gray by BM? I understand it is the closest equivalent to Sea Salt but ate the undergoes basically the same?

I used this years ago in my small dining area. It was sometimes blue, sometimes green. I loved that part, but it was so DARK in my space

Hi, I am looking for a paint color for my 1/2 bathroom. It has no natural light, white trim and black hardware in the bathroom. The floors are are a light hickory. Is sea salt my color? Or do you have a different recommendation? Thanks for your great video!!

I want to paint my front exterior door sea salt. I have a very light gray exteroir. I have a dark brown roof , with a fex of tan or gold. But for the most looks really dark brown. What color for trim shutters? Should I paint my siding a shade of white? Or can I work with the light gray?

Ughhh I was thinking of doing Sea Salt but my home is west facing. Back to square one 😫

Excellent video! My MB has white and pinky/rose tile...would it be a good coordinating color? Seems like it would blend well to me. It is a west facing room.

The rating for light is confusing. We are remodeling a small bathroom, without windows & I want to put Sea Salt on the ceiling & the walls. There is wainscoting that I want to paint white. We will use tile in the tub/shower in Kalay Green subway tile. What type of bulbs do I use to make sure the true color of Sea Salt is in the room? Not bluish. Or, should I put Sea Salt on the wainscoting & a white on walls & ceiling? Wainscoting is normal height on the walls.

Hi, Im looking for a color to go in my kitchen and living area. Cabinets are a dark graphite gray (almost Black), white perimeter counters and island base with a dark fusion of colors on island top. Floors are a birch white. I would like to warm up the room a bit without using beige tones. HELP!
@JacobOwensDesigns5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tammy, it depends on the undertones that you have on your island countertop, backsplash, appliances, fixed elements, and furnished items in both your living room and kitchen. I wouldn't worry about your white birch floors, you can almost paint any color without worrying about how it would react to your flooring. There are so many beautiful colors you can use instead of beige like greige or taupe, to name a few. If you want, you can always check out my online packages if you want it to be professionally done. jacobowensdesigns.com/collections/all I wish you the best on finding the perfect paint for your home:)

I have wood trim/doors with a medium stain. Not sure if this color would work with the red oak floors abs wood doors/trim anyone have any thoughts?
@JacobOwensDesigns2 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say without any visuals. Sea Salt will bring out the red oak floors not tone them down. It all depends on what you're trying to achieve in your space

Would Sea Salt and Origami White work together in the same room?
