I was taking my dog a walk in Clumber and wondered what the event was. Nice to stumble across your channel and see rides in the local area. I might even dust off my gravel bike now. Thanks, Stuart

Would love to do this event but not keen so early in the year. Well done 🙌🏻🚴♀️

Thanks☺️ Yeah, it’s definitely not my preferred time to really enjoy gravel, but as it was my first event and literally a 25 minute drive from home, it was too good an opportunity to miss. Definitely looking forward to more summer events with dry dusty trails😁

Looks like a lot of fun - I've never done an event so would love to do something like this, although I think I'm definitely a fair weather rider :)

My first one too. Definitely recommend it as a first go at anything. So friendly and well organised☺️

@@deblordoutdoors5783 That's good to know. I had a look at the website - there's one near me on the South Downs Way in July 👍

nice vlog and a great picture at the end! - beer and bikes - proper UK gravel including lots of slop and muddy trails :) looked like a good ride event, well done all who braved the conditions and pushed through the weekend

Definitely do. It’s a fantastic route. I’d really like to enjoy it when the ground is hard and you can really smash those descents without fear of ice and mud.

Out of interest what was your tyre choice? Looks like maybe Victoria Terreno mix maybe? What width? (Booked on to this in October, don’t imagine the weather will be any better
@deblordoutdoors5783 Жыл бұрын
I’m going to do it then too. I’ve got the specialised rhombus pro tyres. I believe they only come in 42mm width. I’ve found them to be a really decent all round tyre. Nice central tread for rolling easily enough on tarmac, with the knobbly sides for better traction. Have used them for over a year I think, in all weathers, and they seem solid. Was running tubes, but gone tubeless now.

Pretty much like Josh Reid's video account - hardly a mudguard in sight!
@deblordoutdoors5783 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don’t think anyone expected it to be so muddy. I had an Ass Saver, but it was useless. 2 of the guys riding with me had mudguards and were in a much better state at the end. My mudguards don’t have enough clearance over my bigger tyres, so I ditched them, but it’s definitely a consideration in the future if conditions are anything like this.

How many riders approximately?
@deblordoutdoors5783 Жыл бұрын
I really have no idea. There were 3 distances and originally, the event was planned for 2 separate days. After Saturday was cancelled, participants were given the option of transferring to Sunday, transferring to another Glorious Gravel event, or getting a refund. Not sure how many will have transferred to the Sunday. A quick glance at the results, looks like there were a good 50 finishers in each distance, but that’s probably an underestimation.
