No style or genre that Sheryl can't smash out of the park.

This song takes me back to 2005-2006. It's played often on a jazz radio station I would listen to before going to bed, but I didn't know it was Sheryl until years later, when I finally watched De-Lovely. The other song that stuck in my head from the same movie was Alanis Morissette's rendition of Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love)

Cheryl Crowe has laid down a definitive version of Cole Porters BEGIN THE BEGUINE. Hauntingly beautiful.

Wow, this is different from anything else I have seen her do. She does it well. Is this from a movie? As always, thank you.

No she does not. But it is not her fault.

It is from the 2004 Cole Porter biopic De-Lovely, starring Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd

How sad to think this might be a great rendition in the new generations mind. Wouldn't have cut it in the 1940s. I was born decades later but appreciate her effort. But it was a real let down.

One of the most difficult songs ever to sing. It is a little bit easier at this tempo. It doesn't make any difference, I think you feel the passion in a different way with her rendition.

Now this is my favorite rendition!!!! Doesn't sound like the original... which in my opinion is good lol

I have nothing to say about the singer - I'm not familiar with her work - or the musicians - they play what is put before them - But, whoever composed this arrangement should be barred from ever touching an instrument or a sheet of notation paper for a minimum of twenty years. He has managed to present one of the great works of one of the greatest composers in such a fashion that a young listener unfamiliar with this piece will have no clue what it sounded like originally. There is an old story of a guide showing tourists Beethoven's home, and when he presents the masters piano one of the group asks if he can play on it. The guide says - "Sure." The man sits down and plunks out a simple tune then asks the guide - "I guess all the famous piano players want to play on this piano." The guide replies - "No, they usually don't feel worthy to touch it."
