Swoopes problem is that she has never publicly acknowledged that she was wrong about CC’s age, games played, and shots taken. The only thing she has ever admitted to getting wrong was number of years played. All this would go away if she said publicly that a 22yo CC took about 20 shots a game and broke Plum’s record in fewer games. Swoopes didn’t do her research and she never corrected the record. That’s the only issue.

No one is forcing swoops to say anything, but there are consequences to lying and allowing personal emotions into your analysis and commentary in games. Clark is the reason I even know her Swoops is as well as many of these other players. That’s not disrespect. That me being honest. I didn’t care about the wnba until I watched college ball and saw Clark. Her game is unique and she is an excellent role model regarding her character (for my daughter). I’m just a dude who has followed the NCAA Women’s game a while. I went to a Tennessee Lady Vols game back in 1998 just to watch Pat Summitt coach and cheer on the Lady Vols. The surprise was that I also got to see Stanford coach Tara VanderVeer coach as well. More recently, I’ve been an IUWBB fan since my daughter attended IU from 2018 to 2022. Grace Berger was drafted #6 last year by the Fever, so I started watching them. Most of my recent posts involving the Fever has been how the Fever can’t win without Kelsey Mitchell. And about half of the responses have been negative because I don’t mention Caitlin. Because I didn’t mention her, it pissed some people off. CC’s contributions are obvious but it shouldn’t diminish how well the others play. So I understand why people are picking apart Sheryl Swoops comments. I’m just saying, I can see her side. I find myself defending my positive comments on Kelsey as she has done with her comments on other players who are not CC.
