The Meatly just sounds like a very sweet guy. I wish that Bendy didn't fall into irrelevancy, because unlike a lot of trendy-y horror games, I always felt like there was a lot of care put into it. The designs were my favorite part of the game, and the whole game itself reminded me of older games like silent hill and half life. I really never understood why, but I guess it has to do with the simplicity they had with the dialogue, and the crazy characters. Good job with the video, Shesez, and thanks to The Meatly for helping out!

Realistically, the pre-rendering was probably done to save on resources, but to me it still feels like it suits the environmental storytelling going on here, in a way. Like, Joey Drew’s apartment is modeled in an almost hyperrealistic style, with an insane level of detail for a 3D videogame map. Then you contrast that with the ink world, which is very abstract and like a 2D cartoon. It makes sense to have that flatness from the 2D pre-render, because it adds to the sense of disconnect between the real world and ink world.

Maybe all this amount of unnecessarily high detail on models like the lightbulb and inaccessible areas is probably why each chapter took so much longer to develop. I can only assume why The Dark Revival is taking as long as it is is because they’re modeling a book in a cutscene that would be hard to notice the polygonal detail on first time watching it or wouldn’t be noticeable through normal gameplay.

Not necessarily. Many assets could have been imported from previous projects while at the same time some details like the lightbulbs internals could mean they can reuse the same bulb for various states (on/off) or as a prop elsewhere. The fact it's white in the example is only because it's probably using an emmisive shader for the "on" state. The character's iris being concave is something 3d modellers have been doing for ages in order to get proper lighting and reflections which in turn give life to the characters. This can be vastly optimised if you never get to see a character from up close as in 99% of games and it actually only takes a minute for a modeller to do anyway... On a side note, modelling small details usually doesn't cost much more time than a simpler version. especially when doing so with no "real" hardware constraints behind to force a particular budget on polygons or texture resolution.

As a game dev I can confidently say that that lightbulb was probably an asset they bought. This model was probably made with the intent of being used by architects or engineers on realistic 3D renderings of furnished rooms. My guess is that the interior parts of the bulb are modeled because originally the glass texture was transparent. The interior of the socket on the other hand, might have been useful for a rendering of a lightbulb being screwed into it. 3D Models for games not only don't have the need for such detail but should always avoid unessessary polys/tris. Engineers and architects can have as many polys as they want for they only need to render the Scene/Video just one time, whereas games need to keep rerendering the same scene multiple times per seconds. That is what FPS stands for, the amount of times that scene is being rerendered every second. The reason they left it as it was was probably because there weren't that many polys/tris on the scene it was going to be used on, also because turning a high-poly model into a low-poly one takes time, sometimes more time than it would take to just remodel it from scratch. As for the reason they bought it, it could've been that their 3D modelers speciality was cartoony models and had trouble modeling realistic models. Could have also been because they had a full schedule and a tight deadline, thus the purchase was nescessary, and belive me, as simple as a lightbulb might be, it can easily take a whole day to fully model, unwrap the UV and texture it.

@@stratejic1020 I agree to a point, though there are exceptions for me. Many fandoms have irreversibly changed how I see the game they're attached to. Undertale is a great example, since I can no longer enjoy the best song in the game, nor can I think of many characters without remembering the stupid shit people say about and do with them. Or better yet, the FNaF fandom. I thought the games were neat, and the creator will always be an inspiration to me, but those fans have completely ruined how I see damn near everything in that series. The overlap between the FNaF fandom and the bendy fandom is exactly why I don't want to touch the game (and I'm also not a big horror guy). For the record, I never have said that the game was bad, and never will. I just personally don't want to play it.

0:33 Yes, it was a clever and direct response to people who started hacking. The first person to hack the game was skpacman, and he contacted the developers to make sure they were okay with him showing that kind of behind-the-scenes stuff before he posted it online. He then taught some other people who noticed and were interested in hacking. And while they are usually only accessible by hacking, I glitched through the top of the Chapter 1 map once and was able to see one in the distance. That was when objects were movable and I managed to fling myself into the ceiling with a chair....

My heart almost skipped a beat when I saw a new Bendy video that had came out in very recently (3 days). I absolutely LOVE the game, and I’m still pretty sad how it was towered over by other games after having a massive surge of relevance then, dying. I hope the new game will help it regrow. I kinda figured the end of chapter 5 was a rendered cut-scene instead of the actual layout. It seemed off to me once your character "walked it" so I'm glad I wasn't overthinking it.

If you were wondering what the 2 disconnected rooms were when he did the overview of chapter 3, those are for the cutscenes when the elevator crashes, and when boris is abducted. Appartently there are 2 seperate elevators.

Honestly I forgot this existed because it’s taken so long for them to get the new game out. It’s frustrating to see it was initially supposed to release in 2019.......then 2020.......then 2021. Like, is it ever going to release? Well, either way I’m glad we have Bendy in the first place

There were actually a lot more "Wandering bendy" cutouts but they were removed a while ago, if you can manage to get an older version you can find over a dozen

I remember I saw beta gameplay from someone playing this game and then I saw the beta version of bendy's friend just looking dead in that thing and after that update he looks different but I mean I first saw Bendy and the Ink Machine since 2017.

The first “wandering is a sin sign” can actually be found after doing some secret stuff and ending Sammy again it takes you to the place you go when you die and you can actually walk through

yeah it was kinda fighting FNAF for pop culture status they even tried to get the same types of toys that FNAF had sadly FNAF won its a shame since bendy had alot more interesting themes and gameplay

@@thekillersandvich1150 fnaf seems to have some really interesting and high quality and high budget stuff coming soon, though so it may have been worth it. But anything before the fnaf VR game is pretty overrated. Not bad, but overrated.

@@thekillersandvich1150 I wouldn’t really say they were fighting because the fandoms of each one were different, but I do think bendy lost relevancy because it’s last few chapters really were disappointing. And we now know that the team was making the story up as it went by based on fan theories......

On the nintendo switch version, there are a lot of lighting glitches, and one notable thing is that it causes sammy to visible between the boards in chapter 5 before he walks out.

I feel like Chapter 4 (Bendyland) should have more content covering it. It is one of the busiest chapters but it was bearly scratched here. I am honestly a huge fan of Boundary Break as I am interested in game design and it is cool to see other devs techniques and how the game's work. My biggest inspiration is BATIM and seeing it on Boundary Break made me happy!

I really like bendy but a big reason I'm still so into it is because of how much I feel the meatly is someone I can trust to bring out the full potential of this series. I also like how transparent he is with the progress on the sequel of bendy I mean he tries his best to let us fans know what's going on or why there's a possible delay and I also like how much he interacts with the fans and tries to listen to us why I know a lot of big game company who only listens when the fans get very angry and not to try to make the best game they can but thats where us fans come in we have to be patient and understanding because a GOOD game can't be made in a day.(I know that some of the people who actually make the game or others there could care but I'm talking about the business men and the company itself not everyone who works on the game.) If the meatly sees this then keep up the good work if we need to we can wait an extra month or two.
