Brilliant clip thanks for posting. Peerie Willie, Willie Hunter and Graham Townshend RIP. That's my Dad with the blue fiddle! Still alive and well here in Shetland!

Mike Curran you published this on the anniversary of Willie Hunter's passing. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this amazing clip. In 1991 I was taught by Willie when he went over to America and me, from Scotland, spent some time there too playing tunes and learning from him. I used to hold the fiddle as he does 6 minutes in to this clip. Wonderful to see this and have the memories flood back. He was a great musician and an even lovelier person - one of the most important people to influence my musical journey Show less REPLY

Wasn't he? Beautiful tone. Shame so few recordings & footage from him. From all the Shetland fiddlers of his generation, not even Aly Bain is able to achieve the richness of his tone. Powerful player.

Thanks, Willie, for letting me know it's okay to use passing chords when comping these tunes. Peace.

Any video with Willie in it is a good one. Who is the gentleman on the guitar?. He's pretty good too.

What the name of the first tune? I know I've heard it before, but I cannot think of the name! Cool video, by the way!

The previous comment by Sjofugia does not make any sense as there is not a "Shetland" tune played in the above video only Scottish and Irish tunes with various interpretations of the music played by a few shetlanders,a canadian,a dutch lady and an Irishman !!!!!!
