@evinlong1097 жыл бұрын
Sounds like it just needs a bigger turbo, I would definitely look into it. That or adjusting fuel delivery ratios. Had one of the swapped into an s10 blazer and with the turbo we had, we could pin it through 5th and it hold egts at a reasonable temp. Not to mention it would spin the 33's like nothing. If anything try to find a bigger exhaust side of the turbo. And always remember, not enough fuel can cause high egts as well.
@ShiftedInterests7 жыл бұрын
She rolls coal pretty good, if anything we think it’s a little over fuelled. A bigger turbo would probably have the biggest impact.

Shifted Interests - Chris Boot that's exactly where I'd start! I had the same problem, so I cut the exhaust housing side and intake side to take bigger wheel. Couldn't hardly reach 1250. Bit pricey so I would just look into getting one with little larger wheels and housings.

My understanding of cab clearance lights at least in the US, is that it designates a vehicle over 8 feet wide, and is illegal for vehicles under 8 feet wide. Not sure how manufacturers are getting away with having them on 4-wheel pickups recently though
@ShiftedInterests6 жыл бұрын
My understanding of the matter is that it is not illegal to have extra lights (clearance lights in this case). But they are required for different reasons such as: 8’ wide, long trailers, high vehicles, high trailers, etc. My guess is that manufacturers include them on pickups because of the tow ratings that go with them, they are expected to be used for their full tow rating without modification or adding lights. I have never heard of clearance lights being illegal wherever they are not absolutely required. On the Kubota ranger, they are decorative.

with 0.79 5th gear ratio(M5R1) and 4.10 final drive you'll be running ~2200rpm on 31.6" tires. Some people got good results with 3.73 gears. It may lower your EGT if the torque is enough ....
@ShiftedInterests6 жыл бұрын
... you are good at math, want to calculate our smart car top speed? What numbers do you need to figure it out?
@wusslwussl6 жыл бұрын
Assuming it reaches redline in top gear: - redline (let's just assume it maxes out there, alternatively and more honestly especially in top gear rpm@max power) - top gear ratio (let me know what transmission you have I may be able to take it from there) - final drive ratio (Stock smart should have 4.530:1) - tire info (to calculate outer diameter)
@wusslwussl6 жыл бұрын
I see. You guys hooked the FZ1 transmission output to the rear axle. I need the sprocket teeth count for transmission-output and axle input(aka. the big sprocket). FZ1 transmission ratios is dependent on year. Also, does top gear still make enough power to make top speed with the weight of the smart?

If we find someone local with a similar truck but 4l then a race would be a cool idea! As for dyno numbers. We haven’t put the truck on a dyno yet, but we are guessing it’s around 100 horse and 300 ft/lb torque For gears, we guess it’s stock 410. But we have never checked. Limited slip. Stock axle.

where as it is nice to see out of the box problem solving this makes no sense. it will never fully run right because the fuel system is intended for skid steers and refer units. both setups are meant to run at a set rpm all day. as to putting a weaker engine into a truck any efficiency gains made by going diesel are lost by the fact that the motor is underpowered for the vehicle even with the turbo mod. again nice to see something different.

It’s not your egts I promise. That turbo is off either a diesel or gas Jetta engine and it’s not big enough. And the radiator is way too small for that diesel. It’s not your Intercooler.
@ShiftedInterests7 жыл бұрын
The radiator is made for a 4l vs 2.2 that’s in it.
