Aye Brother, I pulled into the gym a couple hours ago and tried to back my car into a parking spot and bang, my gear shift jammed! All I could do was neutral or drive... without even panicking (which is rare for me) I KZbin this scenario and your video came up... I did exactly what u said and it worked! I wanna thank you for being such an awesome human being and taking the time to make this video.. you have no idea the blessing you are ... I'd hug ur neck if I were near you! I have he same issue with my S500. I turned the car off and it went back in park. However it would refuse to go from D or N every once in a while, so I end up turning the car off , put it in park and start it up again and use reverse. Thanks to you I will be trying what you did and will let you know what happens.

The video helped me fix the same issue with my vehicle, saving me $2,500 in repair costs. Your video is much appreciated, and I am now a huge fan of your content. 30:25

Great video, thank you! I have exactly the same problem. Disassembly all of this clean it and remove the small plastic part that was braken and it was underneath of the shifter but my solenoid doesn't work. Is there any chance to know where i can buy only this spare part? (Solenoid?) Thanks again dude.
@314pickleball5 ай бұрын
Thanks bro! My pleasure! How do you know the solenoid is not working? I honestly didn't test mine, but the sheathing on the wires fell off so I wrapped it in electrical tape and used silicone so it wouldn't ground to any metal. Let me know what's happening for you, have a great day!

My SLK350 sometimes gets stuck in reverse gear. It's the same as yours. But when I turn off the engine and restart it, it's normal again. Did you end up changing the gear seat or just cleaning it to solve the problem?
@314pickleball4 ай бұрын
I made sure to remove any and all debris which took some time and filed the edges of shifter so it would not cause more plastic to shear off and jam up the mechanisms inside shifter again. Still working perfectly since cleaning out. At first it happened, then it worked normally then happened again so the plastic chunks will move temporarily but then fall back in and jam it up again. I hope it helps :)

Hi 👋 Thnks for the video, I just purchased slk280 , and there is a problem to shift to Parking, when I slightly relase the foot from the brakes it's enter to Parking, can be it the same problem?
@314pickleball8 ай бұрын
Hi, not sure. Mine was stuck in D and N. I could not move to R or P. I am not a certified mechanic, but you could remove the shifter and see if the shift rod moves properly. If so then it's something with the shifter. It is possible plastic pieces are lodged inside and causing the problem.

Hi @ronik1974 I have the same issue, have you found the cause of yours?
@athenamedina21415 ай бұрын
@@shawalkassim800any progress on your situation? Mine was stuck in drive and neutral. Definitely felt like an obstruction though. Drove it home, turned the car off in neutral. Popped the E brake, took my foot off the brake pedal. Searched and read some slk forum posts... Looked back down at the shifter and decided to try one more time and bam’ she shifted into park! Not sure if the problem will come back. I think I will clean out the plastic debris as well by taking out and cleaning shifter.

Im sorry I can’t tell what part of the mechanism you lifted up. Also once you placed that black plastic elbow lever do you place it under the part of the mechanism you lifted or over the top of it?
@676946 ай бұрын
Is it that 2 prong fork that you lifted and I assume you place the plastic L over it? Lifting it though was the thing that released that last piece of yellow plastic right?
@314pickleball5 ай бұрын
@@67694 Hi I apologize for the delay KZbin is not sending me notifications!! The black elbow goes in first then the metal fork goes over it and rests and secures on the plastic where the solenoid will be installed...the solenoid is installed which holds that fork down so the elbow doesn't fall out. I hope that helps, but likely you have figured it out by now!
@Montana108425 ай бұрын
Please can you explain this
@314pickleball5 ай бұрын
@@Montana10842 It's hard to explain, but the metal fork holds the plastic elbow/lever in place with the addition of the solenoid being screwed in place holds it in fully. It's tricky to carefully place the metal fork and elbow into position so just play around with it until it sits perfectly where it needs to be, then secure solenoid back in place.

Hi my friend! Your problem was that it just got stuck? But on your dashboard it marked what change it was? I ask you why Mine gets stuck and the letter does not appear in the change it is, it only puts a box without the letters "R", "P" or "D". can you help me?
@314pickleballАй бұрын

My car won’t shift out of Park until warm. It’ll also get stuck in neutral & won’t go into reverse sometimes. Could the shifter be the problem? Thanks!

Hi, yes for sure this is the issue. You need to follow the step of removing shifter and removing plastic debris that's jamming the mechanisms inside.

Was the car not shifting while driving? Mine is doing the same stuck in d & N but it also not shifting outta 2

This is exactly what mine is doing everything you showed is what happened but…. That piece that fell out - no video on how it went back in …. If you remember can you tell me?
@314pickleball2 ай бұрын
I do show it in video, not up close inside, but if you watch where I have it outside on the table and then how I set it up you can figure it out. It just sort of sits there that plastic elbow lever and the metal clip slides around it and the solenoid is screwed in place to hold it in there. I hope this helps, it is tricky though!
