Fascinating! Love the 3 camera angles. You're pretty chill, considering the massive load you're hauling... I'd imagine it would be daunting.

It is interesting how you use a hybrid way of shifting! Sometimes it is easier to use clutch to only take it out of gear, then float back into gear vs double clutching. And like at the end, sometimes easier to fully float. Depending on what I'm driving, I will also either double clutch, clutch to get out of gear, or fully float through. Keep on truckin!

Okay help me understand this, but how did you shift those higher gears towards the end without using the clutch at all? How is that even possible lol
@Oryon7 Жыл бұрын
Don't ya just hate when you have legit questions, and nobody answers?😖 It's likely you already found the answer elsewhere, but in case not... That's the technique called "floating gears." By applying a little pressure on the shifter(toward neutral), right as (or just before) letting off the accelerator pedal, causes it to pop out of gear. The moment it pops out, this will present you with a brief 'window' where the transmission and engine are perfectly in sync, making it ready to enter into the next higher gear almost effortlessly. As long as you don't miss that 'window' by letting the RPMs fall too much, hitting the next gear isn't a problem. If you miss that window, you'll grind the gears a little. You'll have to raise the RPMs and try again. Clutching helps the syncing process, but as drivers get familiar with their trucks, they may choose to float gears instead. Many believe it's also much easier on their knee over time, while some suggest that knee pains/injury is more to do with lack of enough/proper exercise while out on the road, than it is using the clutch. Both sides have their points, yeah?

What's that yellow wire hanging on yur clutch pedal for ? weird
@andrewmarsman32942 жыл бұрын
Amazing that you didn’t even hit the gas pedal to start moving, you just let off the clutch. Very different than my sports car
@Therevdon2 жыл бұрын
That's the correct way to get any manual transmission moving. Never on the clutch and throttle at the same time. If it stalls without throttle, it means you're coming off the clutch too fast.

Can u use or even have cruise control on a manual stick bigrig like yours? Man yur left leg must get tired sorta clutching esp in traffic or in city ? like hurt yur left knee too ?

@@family1stdad I heard on bigrig manuals.. u don't really clutch every time shifting.. you do like glide between gears.??? is that right ? When do u have to kick in the clutch mainly then? thx

What app is that on yur phone? Is that bc yur independent o/o trucker you use that for HOS and other stuff?
@Cocytus2 жыл бұрын
It looked like a time management app. Truckers no longer can work whatever hours they want. They have to abide by a set amount of drive time, rest time, and overall total time for the schedule of the load arrival to its destination. It's not as free as it once was decades ago, but still a very rewarding career that does still pay decently despite the limits of drive time set on drivers.

Do you ever float gears?
@MachineGod693 жыл бұрын
Never seen someone shift gears like there driving a Corolla, that is really odd. In my opinion that is not correct way to shift, you either double clutch or you float that is it. Not sure what the heck that was? Just my opinion.👍🤦

Yeah, it's not correct at all.

I know this was over a year ago, but sometimes on certain vehicles it is easier to use the clutch to take it out of gear, but then float it into gear. Depends on truck/transmission and condition of the two. I've only been driving semis for less than two years, but that has been what I've noticed.
