Funnily enough, if you do this right, it actually works! It’s difficult to do it on purpose but when I just naturally walk quietly without trying or meaning to, it works almost all the Time. I do it all the time and people wonder how the heck I appear into and disappear from a room or place so quickly and silently without being seen or heard. I just reply with a whisper, “Stealth mode.” Or “Misdirection.” It’s SO funny when I do it behind one of my friends or family then speak or just wait for them to turn around and freak out and jump. It’s hilarious. Some even sometimes say, “Would you stop doing that?!” like Po says in the third movie to Shifu and it just makes me laugh even harder. Just make sure you know each other well enough to anticipate how they’ll react and don’t do it at night or somewhere spooky. I did that and my mom freaked out and reflexively punched, luckily, I reflexively blocked it, probably picked up from watching so many martial arts movies, so no harm done.

I love the dramatic exit. Just how fast he speedwalks out of there and how Po is the ONLY ONE distracted. One part I love is how Oogway says "there are no accidents"just after Po is chosen and Po rips through the bottom on the litter as they try to carry him up to the Jade Palace, with Shifu holding his hand up to Oogway as if to say "You see?!!!"

One thing that took me way too long to work out is that Shifu is a red panda, but spends the first movie using the term "panda" like an insult against Po. I think this is supposed to be in part self reflective, Shifu is tough on himself for his own shortcomings, by learning to accept Po as the dragon warrior he also learns to accept himself, and thus achieve inner peace in the second movie.

I love the progression of Shifu in these movies. The first one he’s grumpy and serious because he has to train a nobody while his evil son is rapidly approaching, including that he’s in-part the reason his son is so evil. Then in the later movies he’s a lot more mellow due to his main internal conflict being over, especially in the 3rd movie due to him already having inner peace from the previous movies, and retiring from teaching.
