I❤the trapping move with the elbow lift and turned head pin. This stuff isn’t seen very often and strikes panic or stiffness in the victim since they know they’re screwed

Uchimata was my throw when i competed. I wish i knew this uchikomi back then. Its really smooth and makes a ton of sense.

What is the distinction between this form of uchi mata vs harai Goshi?
@johnnycaralta5 ай бұрын
99% sure that was Hane Goshi. Harai is when your leg goes to the outside of your opponent's.

Great video as always. But i kinda have a problem by understanding the difference betweem Hane Goshi and Uchi Mata. Honestly that one looked more like a Hane Goshi for me, considering your leg "sweeping"
@FreeSalesTips5 ай бұрын
Hane goshi means "spring hip". His sweeping leg wasn't making the springing shape of the hane goshi. The sweeping leg was a straight and it moved in between the legs.

Doesn't Uchi Mata go through the inside leg?
@wigletron28464 ай бұрын

@@jaychyzykUchi Mata does not need to go between the legs, but it does need to be primarily a leg throw, almost like a forward reap, which is most easily done on the near leg by going between the legs. It can be done on the far leg, but usually this will end up being more of a hip throw assisted by the attacking leg, like in this case, which is more of a hane goshi. At least that’s how it’s been explained to me
@SamuraiJD_645 ай бұрын
Love this throw. I wonder if this can be done without a gi? 🤔
@FreeSalesTips5 ай бұрын
Of course it's possible. The thing that's necessary is to load the torso onto the thrower's waist. The uchimata sweep is merely acting as a force multiplier to the hip throw, the opponent's body structure is already gone the moment his torso is loaded onto the thrower's waist. So the question is about how to load the opponent onto the waist without the grip of a Judo jacket. I refer to other styles of wrestling and watch how they manage to do any hip throw without the grip of a jacket.

That is Hane Goshi not Uchi Mata I like Hane better because you get more lift in my opinion. It feels like you are getting them in the air.

I agree...a hane goshi variation
@rikyako884 ай бұрын
People always overthink whether it is hanegoshi or uchimata. Important thing that this is a variation and the concepts of those 2 waza meet somewhat in the middle. Just like Shohei Ono, he calls his technique uchimata but some variations looks like hanegoshi. Take note that Nihongo is his mother tongue.

if opponent is 30kg+ and 10-15cm taller, what then?? how to modify it to work?
@dougnettleton53262 ай бұрын
You hardly have to modify. If the opponent is 10 to 15 cm taller, you're already under their centre of gravity. Any of the throws being discussed here, i.e., uchi mata, hane goshi, and harai goshi, will work well. The challenge is how to make these throws work if you are 10 to 15 cm taller than your opponent.
