Just a friendly reminder that this piece is named the Kreutzer because Beethoven got into a drunken fight with George Bridgetower, the violinist to whom the sonata was originally dedicated, after Bridgetower insulted the woman that Beethoven liked. He named it after Kreutzer, a better violinist, purely out if spite. The more you know!

I was struggling, untalented, unmotivated lacking the ability to count after 8 years of playing the instrument. Watching Shigatsu made me realize that without emotion, music cannot tell its story. I learned this piece after 2 months. The practice was frustrating, but the results justified my near decade of work put into violin. Thanks you, Shigatsu, for reviving classical music for this generation.

People should understand that this piece is very difficult technically. Beginners shouldn't try something like this just yet; keep on practicing starting simple and going up in difficulty as you move on. If you wanted to learn this as your first piece, it'd probably take years.

I'm not NEARLY this good, I haven't even been playing for 2 years yet. But this anime helped me remember to add emotion to my music, and that it means the world to the audience, and that they can tell. As a music major with a seriously horrendous music instructor, I've been struggling a lot lately. I've come to dread my lessons, I've stopped getting excited to perform, I no longer even have fun playing if it's for my professor. The prof is just sucking the life out of my instrument for me. Rewatching this anime is starting to make me remember why I do, still, love it so much. Kaori

same here but instead of music i take art, i used to love making art but the freaking teacher is a perfectionist and gets mad and upset if the art isnt perfect or how she wants it. and its stressed me to the point where i have mental break downs in class and im at the point where drawing and art isnt really that exciting anymore. it feels like art has became a chore and not a fun activity i should love doing.
@pornstarnarek8 жыл бұрын
The Megan Pixel She doesn't have the quality to be a teacher so she shouldn't. Being mad and visually upset has no benefiting effect for a person teaching any subject, so a teacher who does that a lot should switch jobs, or work on their problems back at 'home' (which are the roots of those negative behaviors.) So try not to be emotionally swayed if she does that. As long as you're enjoying drawing, and using her criticism to fix your art, then you're doing everything right so don't let it upset you

Same I though studying music in college would be fun. After all I love violin. Once I started college I learned that music majoring in college is not for your enjoyment. You have rules that didn't exist when it was just casual. You're being held to the standards of "masters" who have 10+ years of experience. Just because it was something I was passionate about did not mean I excelled. I quit and now play for fun. I don't need to be perfect with my intonation or my bowing. No one docks points for smiling. Not everyone is cut out for pro music. I will never have the finesse of someone who's studied 20 years. I won't and I'm okay with it. I just have fun now and leave it to the people who can handle the harsh criticisms

Mau BS I did it because if people are looking for this performance that played in this anime, they can find it easier. But you're right haha.

Mau BS because the pieces played in the anime are the studios own recordings, theyre not the original ones
@BloodSprite-tan8 жыл бұрын
+Mau BS this recording is pretty unique, compared to a flac i have it's much more expressive. it sounds similar but they aren't comparable, it's much more precise and true to the original piece will this is just a interpretation, i don't think that this would be acceptable as a recording of the song, it's not the song this song is it's own version and isn't really comparable.
@joetreacy47998 жыл бұрын
Classical Music always sounds different depending on the performer, I only listen to certain versions of certain songs, because I don't like the others. For example I prefer the Shigatsu version of Love's Sorrow and 'Wrong Notes' Etude but I don't really prefer the Shigatsu for any of the others.
@IanSumallo8 жыл бұрын
+Mau BS I need to ask though... Is there really a difference between Kaori's performance and the real Kreutzer? I can't tell with my untrained ears. Thanks by the way.

There are tons of renditions of this song by other musicians on KZbin. You, however, chose to listen to the video that is the rendition shown in the anime, has "Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso" in the title, and has a background and thumbnail of a character from the show. You can't honestly have expected it to not be full of comments about the show.
@grantharrison17158 жыл бұрын
Jack Dillon comment section i don't care about. in the actual anime, they talk about "how they feel" whilethe music is playing, which i understand but its near impossible to actually listen to the song and enjoy it in anyway.

This violin sonata is notable for its technical difficulty, unusual length (around 40 minutes), and emotional scope. It is commonly known as the Kreutzer Sonata after the violinist Rodolphe Kreutzer, to whom it was ultimately dedicated, but who thoroughly disliked the piece and refused to play it.
