I hear people saying all the time how animes are a waste of time... I've heard things like "it doesn't offer you any lesson" or "it's entertainment for kids..." etc. After I saw Your lie in April, my mindset changed. I started feeling my morality, how fragile a person can really be, both physically and mentally, and why it is so important to cherish every moment and person in our lives. I knew all of that before that of course, but the difference before and after was like night and day... It even made me not give up on music. I've been struggling for years to learn a music instrument, but I've been always puting it off, saying to myself that 4 years of choir is enough if I wanted to connect with music, so I just focused on my studying... It's finally imbedded in my mind that it's not enough... Music is just a whole other way of expression and every instument is an extension of one's self. That's why some people like some instruments more than others, or atleast that's my opinion. I wish everyone could see this anime. Even if you don't get the very meaning of it, you still feel some moments that will change you. It's truly a piece of art, bless the people that made it happen...

Hangry Potato thanks for this comment. I have 10 years experience in piano but music never seemed to resonate with me. I was planning to quit after one more year. Once i had watched the anime, it reopened my eyes. I took a good hard look at myself and my musical journey so far. This was the point when i redoubled my efforts to become the best that i could be and am still on that journey today. Your experience was just the same as mine which i find amazing. This anime was more than just a cartoon. It’s a beautifully crafted inspirational masterpiece and i owe so much to it for the lessons it has taught me any countless other people. I initially started to watch it just because it had to do with music and i was just bored in quarantine but once i finished i had a sense of purpose. Truly amazing.

Hello 2021. 3 years ago, my best friend died with Lupus. She really loves music just like me. We usually jam a lot. When she got sick, I was a working student and she always message me "Hey come over to my house and bring my favorite donuts." But, before the day of my visit, she passed away. Full of regret, up until now and I got more emotional when I watched YLIA. I cry a lot every time I am reminiscing our time together especially when I am listening to this. Thanks for the music. It's sad, but it's magical, I feel she's just here. I miss you and will always miss you my dearest friend. ❤️

Your Lie In April taught me three important lessons. Are you ready? Number 1: It doesn't matter what other people think, as long as you're enjoying the flavors of the moment, everything else is just a background scene to your spotlight. Number 2: So many people do things, for others. They set their goals with other people in mind, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Unless you're doing it because YOU want to, you'll never feel it inside of your soul. Number 3 And this is the most important one: Sometimes, when we fall down, life will hold out it's hand and offer to lift you up to the peak of your cliff. However, once you get there; life leaves it up to you, on whether or not you want to take the next step forward and leap into the unknown. Sometimes, the unknown can be a person's loving arms, or someone broken in need of repair. Other times it can be a random leap into a public fountain, and having a splashing fight with friends. It can even be stepping forward into a new spotlight in life, scared and shaking we might be. But once you take that leap, even if you don't land on your feet. There's always going to be a light deep in your heart there to help brighten the path as you're trying to stand up.
@tonyh20825 жыл бұрын
it never always ends like that lol. not many people get past the pain and disappointment. What will Kousei do after their deaths? He lost all his motivation to keep going. He fights for what? A future with Tsubaki? A very shallow and wishful thinking you guys have. Its time to wake up

people often ask me why this is my top comfort anime. besides the story and all of the ugly sobbing i do whenever i rewatch it, the music is just… so beautiful. the soundtrack is so pretty, the art style is gorgeous, and the story got me into piano more than i’ve ever been. in fact, it changed my perspective on music as a whole. i’ve always enjoyed music, but this… this made me look at rhe different perspective that musicians have about their pieces that intrigued me. made me think about the emotions they were trying to convey; the colors that sparkled above their head as they performed it for the first time, or creating it. it’s just such an eye opening anime. out of all the anime i’ve watched, only a few have made this big of an impact on me. just hearing a piece of the soundtrack causes me to tear up, but also helps me relax, knowing that it’s something i can rely on to sleep. your lie in april really has been the anime i’ve been going back to since i was 15… and i don’t regret it one bit.

I still cry to this show. Sometimes I rewatch it and I remember the day in study hall in high school i was balling in tears at my desk watching this. Trying to muffle my tears in my school sweatshirt. But this show is what set in stone that instead of pursuing something else in life like being a chef or being a translator that I would become an animator. Having a deep background in music but always having extreme stage fright was hard for me. And watching this show, falling in love with the characters and feeling such a deep and real pain when Kaori died is what truly made me realize that I needed to be a person to create the same magic around me. This show was my comfort. It was a way to step away from the harsh realities of my home life and school life and feel like I could do something amazing in the future. I don't even talk about anime or music with the people that I know, after spending my life feeling isolated for being such a big fan. But this show lighted a spark that hasn't dimmed yet. Now after struggling to get back in school I'm an animation student. And I hope some day I can make a story that will make people feel similar to the way this show made me feel. Even compose an amazing soundtrack to go with it. I'm not really expecting anyone to read this comment, I'm just kinda crying at my desk tying this because this album always makes me cry lol. But to anyone who sees this, I hope you're doing alright. I hope you stay healthy and safe in this cruel world. My eyes still sting after crying so many times while watching this. The sheer amount of emotion in the music and the story just bring all the feelings out of me, I really love how it shows how delicate life is and how much emotion can be conveyed in music and also how you should tell the people you love how much you love them. Tomorrow’s never guaranteed nobody says they wish they would’ve done less when it’s their time to go, they always say they wish they would’ve done more. So live your life to the fullest and dont give up no matter how hard it gets because you never know how much you mean to someone.

I finished the show today. Watching this show really made an impact on my soul. How I look at life. It made me realize we can’t always live life with doubt in our mind. we’re all here for a short amount of time and we should try living it in a way to chase your dreams, no matter how much pain and suffering you go through. To find the light in the dark to keep you going, that reason to keep struggling. We should all strive to be like Kao. Plunge into the unknown and have no regrets. Who knows maybe we can go on a beautiful journey. This show has inspired me to practice piano harder despite the struggle I'll face I'll chase my dream of being able to play like this one day. I hope everyone’s journey is as beautiful as can be. I wish you all good luck out there in this world filled with color

Belive me or not, after watching this anime i decided its enough sadness and deppresion for me. I decided to go talk to a therapist. I belive that this anime is not sad, its actually full of happiness. They managed to realise their dreams, Kaori made him sing again and Kohei will always and forever remember Kaori as his lover and friend, even if he didnt tell her the words, she knew he loves her and he, in the end, knows about her true feelings. Don't be upset guys, life is like this. Im crying now, im crying in therapy, im crying in my car alone and you know what? ITS OK. Thats what makes life so colourful. The feelings of sadness happiness, sorrow, this is what makes us feel alive. I hope i can cure myself and follow my own dreams, exactly as Kaori did. And if you need to hear it, I LOVE YOU GUYS. So as teen, I watched this show multiple times. It likely made one of the largest impacts of my life out of any specific event, and I wouldn't consider myself a weeb or a shut in. I have done a lot in my life. But this show. It changed my life and forced me to focus my life towards making each day something special, both for myself and for others, as you never know what might happen to you, or what others are going through. In grade 10 or so, I downloaded this full ost onto my phone at the time, and listened to it anytime I was focusing alone - thinking before bed, studying ect. I was a cadet in my teens. Reached high in the program, made the best of it. Through that, during the summers you go to camps to train. In both grade 10, for 3 weeks and in grade 11 for 6 weeks, I listened to many of these songs before I slept. Reflected on them. Did I make a positive impact? Did I regret anything? In the end, I made a positive impact and I didn't regret in the slightest. I have many memories of that. And when I think of them, this song plays in the background. I love this song, and I love YLIA

As I lay down on the operation table, I thought to myself: Is this the end? Would I see Arima Kousei again? Would I be able to play with him one more time? Of course. As if the contrary would happen. After all, I still owe him for the Gala performance. *the anesthesia starts to take effect and I close my eyes* Still, I did write the letter after all. Maybe... Even if... No, he'll remember me. I'm sure of it. No use regretting now. Even if there's a chance I could play with him again, perhaps, maybe we'll grow into something more..? I'll be sure to hide that letter from him then. *the monitor starts beeping faster* ...what? What's happening? *the surgeon starts to move hurriedly, the nurses' breathing becoming labored as they rush around grabbing tools* Will I be okay? Will I see him again? Is it too selfish of me? I should've written more in the letter. *the surgeon makes a motion, the nurses gasp* I guess, it didn't work out? No, it wasn't supposed to be like this... I was going to see him again... No... no... n... ... *monitor lets out a final, jarring beep* *I'm sorry, Arima* *so, so, so very sorry*

This anime touched my soul. And broke my heart. I love music so much, I only recently got into guitar and making music as a whole and I truly regret not finding my passion for it sooner. This show will always make me emotional cause the feeling of living your life with no purpose or passions then finally finding one is eye opening. And learning to live for yourself, to live through loss, to live when you feel you have no purpose, to try and love yourself, and pushing through the pain and not giving up are some of the hardest things to do and this show really brings those topics to life and shows the beauty in the smallest things and makes you appreciate life and the emotion and love that music can bring to people.

I've watched it in 2016 and never realized the true meaning behind this anime, never shed a tear. Though I've learned how to appreciate the beautiful world of music, how it helps you to free your mind, to express your feelings in form of music, to give you the strength to keep going. Today in 2022 I've re-watched it and for the first time I cried like I never knew I would be capable of doing that. Watching it again and seeing how someone can give you the strength to pull yourself out of the dark hole, to open your eyes that the world isn't always dark & gray but also colorful too. How people can support each other in a way is truly beautiful, to work on your weaknesses and to overcome your fear. No matter how unfair life can be, the only thing it can't take away from you are the best memories you've shared with the people you love. When you forget it somehow, others will remember for you. There might be horrible memories too no doubt but usually the most joyful and precious moments you've experienced are stronger. What made me crumble from my hard shell was the moment he had to experience a horrible thing again and how he managed to give it all still. To accept that she's gone, to accept her love, her appreciation, to have met his savior, to be her savior as well and that she also was in love with him. I love music, I love the people who I could be a part of with them together. Never give up guys and try to keep your heads up, even when it seem impossible to do, something will always give you the strength to keep you going and it doesn't have to be always in the form of what you think.

You know, silly as it may seem, a plot like this puts me to shame. Kaori is a character with dream and an expiration date. I have a dream and I have a lifetime. In the brief time she had, she lived hers. I have lived for longer, and I've had this dream of mine for just as long. Yet I still put it off until tomorrow when I'm lazy though I could probably get so much done today. I have had so much time, and I haven't seen my dream happen yet. Looking at the plot, if she had a lifetime to do everything, would she have done it? It's human nature to procrastinate when we know we have time. But take the time away, and we just do. In a way, everything they worked for in the story would never have happened thanks to human nature. It was die young and make it happen, or grow old and wait. It had to be the way it was, or every beautiful moment would have ceased to exist. So, as people with dreams and aspirations, were wasting so much time. Kosei and Kaori had so little time, and did so much. How can we have so much time and do so little? Imagine the potential if you could truly live as if you'd die tomorrow, but with a lifetime at your side. So this really puts me to shame.

This helped me make my life better. I feel alone in school. When some people come up to me and said do you laugh I said sometimes and they say ok. I can regret what I have done in past. My life was horrible that I wasn’t paying school and talking to friend that was all about life for me not because school boring but the life of me isn’t good don’t me like me. But your lie in April and your other Just does everything what we and everyone needed. For sure you deserve more than that. Not a big deal changing life is everything like people and other... appreciate it keep it up

I almost did too, but just then I actually saw a piano and violin in anime form and I got interested. I'm so glad I did.

@@katherinecha4056 that's almost the same way I got into Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. I was listening to '50 Best Anime Openings' by a channel I forgot the name of. There the opening caught my heart and I thought of checking it out. Plus it was animated by a company I knew. Then I found out that the anime was about a pianist and a violinist and me being a pianist myself, checked it out and gotta say I didn't regret crying.

@@RussianBall929tysm bro, I definitely feel better than that time 2 years ago but still living the reality she is not with us. Take care as well, I hope you have a great rest of year ❤
This reminds me of my high school days back then in 2016. I started listening to YLIA's soundtracks starting from that year: my lost and uncertain days. My classmates couldn't understand why I jammed to this playlist so much. But I didn't have the words to explain my reasons. Perhaps, it was better that way, because this playlist's beautiness is beyond words that I could ever transcribe. 2016 was also the year that I first and last binged watching YLIA, ending up with me crying my heart out loud at the last episode. 'Twas too painful for me to learn out the truth from Kaori's lies. So since then, I haven't rewatched it till now. Now that I grow older and getting sure of where I wanna go onwards, listening to this playlist makes me feel like I've been to a breakthrough phase that I never knew I needed. I'm very glad, for experiencing the struggles and hardships of drowning in my uncertainties. Unlike now, I cried listening to this soundtracks because I felt unsure before. Now, I listen to this without crying because I feel clear of ownself. Dakara, thank you, YLIA's soundtracks, for your existence, for seeing me growing up wiser, for seeing me not giving up, and for watching me even though you're just a music, a playlist, that I will share to my children if they ever go through the phases that I went through. Thank you, very much, too, to the composers and musicians who created these beautiful and immaculate YLIA's soundtracks. Your masterpieces actually save people's lives, and one of them is mine.

I will always remember my trip to japan to visit those iconic Shigatsu ga Kimi no Uso place, and I will always be grateful to be able to feel it truly there, from the street with cherry blossoms trees on very first episode, to the rail crossing of that last scene
