I have a shih poo whos about 2 years old now! So heres my tips :) •They are very smart and stubborn. So if you don’t train them fast you are going to have a trickster on your hands! (Seriously... learned that the hard way lol) •When they get bored they usually get themselves into trouble so always have something for them to do (my guy likes to nudge my phone right out of my hands sometimes lol) •because of their fur this breed should only be given a bath once a month. • if they have the poodle coat, try brushing them almost everyday. Knotting is very common and because they can become shaggy its hard to notice. • these dogs are super compassionate most likely will never leave your side so that means they form separation anxiety very easily And for some personality points, at least for my pup. hes very dominant for a dog his size he really does believe hes superman, lovable, wants to play 25/8. He really thinks hes our little guard dog, they have such big personalities ❤️

My brother has a Shih poo that is 8yrs and he is a wonderful dog. He is very intelligent, a bit OCD about his toys. He always knows where they are even if you hide them. He is emotional especially if he doesn't have his favorite ball because he will get depressed. He likes to be the only one as a matter of fact we call him little brother and he responds to that because he follows my brother everywhere.

I got myself two Shih Poo puppies and you talk about a hand full of energy. I was glad to hear that not just my two boys are stubborn with this house training because it is tough. I know that we are going to make through this but I am absolutely open to any tips and we don’t even want to talk about their appetite for corners of the walls and furniture.😏

My little Shih Poo puppy Boo came to live with us 10 days ago. She is so sweet and energetic. I can tell she is going to need a lot of patience to train, though. She is absolutely fearless. She tries to play puppy-rough with my 18 pound dog who is 11 years old but he just growls and trots away. She is beautiful, with a bit of a poodle snout, not really flat-faced. My groomer is already excited about getting to groom her to look cute in different styles.

Had a shot poo. She was the best. House broken in one week. Great watch dog. If there was someone she did not know, she would let you know. Also watch out breeders. She developed diabetes at four years old. Gave her shots twice a day. She had a stroke at seven years old. I actually took her skiing with me. She loved it

Our shipooh is really smart, he learned tricks without us intentionally teaching it to him. He loves his toy very much and brings it with him everywhere. But he can be stubborn and loud. Really loud. Demanding. Send help.

My experience with a shih poo... I have a shih poo which me and my GF named "Cake". She has curly hair, she loves children, but due to us introducing her to different kinds of children, some children can really tend to hurt them, thus our shih poo tends to be cautious to other children.. however, she can easily recognize the children that are gentle towards her, so she easily runs after them, and exposes her belly and wabts to be petted. However I do experience introducing her to some people which are ok with dogs, but for some reason she absolutely detests.... i even told them to try and let them smell their fists, but she still acts cautiously towards them... I don't know, there are dogs I guess which does not like certain kinds of people... One of my main problems with shih poos is that, you really can't get your chores done... in my experience, she often tries to bite the broom, tries to get the rag that you are trying to wipe the floor with, etc... They really are loveable breeds, but they really do suffer from separtion anxiety... I've had many experiences where, I just wanted to train outside when it's raining, so there are some puddles, I dont want to get her wet, my shih poo keeps on barking, and scratching the door. We have a glass door in our house so we both can see each other, but everytime I try to leave her indoors, she would always look at me with those puppy dog eyes, scratching the glass door, and bark in a very sad way that all you can do is just say "AWWWWWWW" My shih poo, I admit I have spoiled but, being as cute as she is, whenever she looks at you, you can't help but feel sorry and just want to hug and love her... Bottomline, shihpoos are really great companion dogs, but I would suggest, if you are ever away for work or something, have a baby sitter, because they really do suffer a lot from separation anxiety all on their own. If they have a companion, then it's ok... But boy... whenever you do arrive, trust me, you'll get smuthered with kisses, and they would want you to pick them up, and when they do, you'd be a happy camper. Also, in regarss to their stubbornes, yeah, it is true, Shih Poos are a bit difficult to train, but you just jeed to be patient... Also, I let my shih poo sleep with me. I live in the PH, so it's relatively hot from time to time... they tend to transfer from one position of the bed, to the other, so you might as well watch out for thay in case you're a restless sleeper. Most of the time, my shih poo always sleeps next to my feet, since I understand, shih tzus are basically foot warmers for their masters in ancient times, so since I'm a restless sleeper, might as well train them to sleep other than on the bed. What I personally do is, hace an electric fan face her, because she loves that on hot nights and days, but on cold days and nights, she doesn't want to sleep on the bed that I bought for her, but she most of the times sleep on the concrete floor where it's cold... Seriously, shih poos are like babies and me and my GF are happy with the shih poo we adopted... :)

We LOVE our Shih Poo! Our Little Miss Bryneleigh is 5 now and is as playful as the day we brought her home! She's smart, sweet, friendly, cuddly, playful and DEFINITELY a lap dog. She'll come racing, seemingly out of nowhere, jump up on the couch and plop down on my lap. She never 'shakes' out of nervousness or fear of strangers. We ALWAYS know when the mailman is here, yet she's not a 'sit-at-the-window-yapping' sort of dog. We call her our little lioness because she "prowls" after anything smaller than herself, (lady bugs, ants, spiders) and is completely adorable. (Shih Tzu means "lion dog") If we ever get another small dog, it will most definitely be a Shih Poo! I highly recommend this breed!
