I’ve been a Tae Kwon Do instructor for 40 years, a boxing coach for 10. Weaned on old school , when it was called Korean Karate. This training brings back good memories of hard core training. This guys straight punches and shovel hooks are very good. Don’t know how he is as an instructor , but he is a prime example of long term physical training and high level technique. Really refreshing to see compared to the bogus bs that’s out there. Weak people with no physicality, barely breaking a sweat and claiming near mystical techniques.

This man Judd Reid completed the Young Lions Program, training every day for 1000 days under Kyokushin founder Sosai Mas Oyama. He has achieved numerous world titles including world champion in Kyokushin and other karate tournaments. And at the age of 40 he completed the 100 man Kumite challenge that only select individuals were invited to attempt. That and a life time of training and achieving 5th Dan Black Belt is why he is an instructor. Osu

I practice kyokushin for a year and a half, then switch to WTF tae kwon do cause my friend opened a school, at first in sparring the other student hurt themselves hitting me... the conditioning is that insane, i was amazed that all students struggle to do 20 push ups when in kyokushin we did like 200.... still TKD was fun but i am going back to Kyokusin

Shihan Reid was just here in Seattle, an excellent teacher and very inspiring, the seminar was amazing, Shihan is a great example of what happens when you continue to push yourself beyond your limits. One quote that sticks with me, is "there are no hidden secrets here, just good hard work!", for those who study any form of Karate and are serious about it, if you get an opportunity to train with it's well worth every minute. @@ry8729 It's all relative, no need to belittle their training. Because many westerners accustomed to colder weather break down when confronted with the humid and hot thai weather in muay thai camps as example, especially when it gets cardio heavy. I prefer cold areas over that anytime.

I took Shoryn Ryu as a child for a short time.I never even memorized the Katas.I didn't think I had retained much ,but over the past couple yrs. I Had to fight alot growing up ,I was small.I began to adopt more of a jiu jitsu/Wrestling.I would use alot of dirty techniques, I loved using Nerve strikes. Well I eventually grew out f my rowdy yrs and settled down,after a few Tripps to prison.Nowdays I'm a family man ,I do anything to avoid violence,I'm 39 yrs old,it is a miracle I'm still alive after all I've been through.Looking back I think it has always been my Passion for Martial Arts,combat skills, Fighting that has driven me to survive.I have been doing some body conditioning , I have been studying the styles and principles of several arts.Yet I have not been able to apply any in a practical application.I have nobody to train with me.So for now I just Would like to at least learn a few Katas to work as a template.Sanchin ,Is one I gave been trying but It's hard to follow on KZbin on my phone.If you have any suggestions or maybe video of Basic Kata .You are a huge inspiration to me. RESPECT .

Yes he's brilliant..... and having done kyukoshin myself I thought it was the best traditional karate I did however it really bothers me that after all that mechanical karate strikes .... they revert to western boxing strikes when doing kumite and Thai box when low kicking ..... Oyama was the first Japanese master to beat a Thai and he had to tailor his karate to do that ... many Japanese had fallen to thais already .... so I think that future karate will start to change as martial arts modernize

Judd has trained in those disciplines also. Most people make the mistake of seeing someone train in a certain style and assume that's all they know. Also, anyone on Sunday can lose a streetdight, pro boxer or not, many violent thugs have bested trained monsters purely on their ability to instigate maximum violence at the drop of a hat.
