Hey again Efren mate, just wanted to pop in with a question built off your expertise and I dont know you'll get to where I'll need help by the time I'm back on the road; When travelling that real long section through the mountains between 43 and 44/45, where'd you end up staying or was there transport between the towns? Info's rough to find on the place, but I think there might be some tiny accomodation spots along the way.

That was a tricky section. I stayed in Matsuyama city and Hiroshima for a few rest days, and then I took a bus from the main train station to Kumakogen. Visited Temple 44 and 45 and then walked back to a small minshuku on the side of the road called "8 Cho Zaka." Really nice place with western style beds, laundry, and meals. The next day, I walked to Temple 49, and i took the train back to the city center since I had already walked the temples around Matsuyama.

@Walk_with_Efren eyyy! Haccho Zaka is in my plans as well! Have you gotten the specific bus written down anywhere? I reckon there's a train from Ozu then Ozu to Kumakogen right?

I took a direct bus from Matsuyama. I don't think you can get there on the train.

Efrem - about how heavy is your backpack? Also - at the Family Marts and Lawsons (and at any other stores) - did you see a lot of vegan (plant-based) foods and snacks for sale?

my backpack is always heavier than it has to be because I'm carrying my filming gear. but I'm used to it. I think I mention the weight on the livestream (first video on the playlist). as for the vegan options along the way. it's japan you can find options. I'm not too sure because I eat everything.

You don’t use trekking poles?

No I do not. I need my hands free to grab any camera gear I need at moments notice. I used poles years ago but ultimately ditched them
