I think they came out in 1992, I still own one I bought in 1993. Many spring salmon and winter steelhead were landed with it. This year I traded out the SS ball bearings for ceramic bearings works beautiful and casts a mile.

Just watched both your Curado videos and they were invaluable in cleaning my two new-to-me reels. Best reel maintenance videos I’ve seen on YT! I’d say keep it up. I like the close ups, detailed explanations on each part and the purpose they serve. I need to add some new greases to my tool kit but If I ever get in a jam, I know where to send my reels. Thank you!

I’m putting mine back together right now you help me do Corrado 200 the salt water version the older one I would have been able to do without your video I haven’t watched any of your other videos but if you’re asking about what you could do for film content you could do a before what it sounds like actually Casting lure And you’re after You can do a video out on the water or in your yard you can do a video to see how far it would cast when it was dirty and how far cast if it improves the cast ability after the cleaning The one I’m taking apart right now it sounds bad when I cast it real smooth but when I cast it it sounds really ugly

You are in luck that I decided to check this channel. Yes it is just mirrored, EXCEPT for a couple things, and I hope I can remember them all. Your Anti-reverse bearing will spin in the appropriate direction for being left handed, and the nut that retains the handle on the drive shaft is "lefty- thighty, righty loosey" aka left handed threads. I don't think anything else is that way besides the mirror. All the rest of the screws should be in normal thread direction. There are schematics for the left handed reels specifically. Almost all the parts are the same except the two I mentioned, and then sometimes Shimano just takes the anti-reverse bearing and put it upside down in the side plate. It works.

Are these reels still worth fixing up to using? I got one for free and plan on taking parts off it to fix a citica E. Maybe I should clean it up to sell, then buy the parts I need for the citica e.

Very few parts with carry over other than bearings. But these are some of the best reels ever made in my opinion.

Great video. Is reel repair your business? I have one of these CU-200 reels that I got new back whenever. It's never seen salt water. It was an incredible reel when new, but now I can't seem to get it to cast well. I just can't get any distance out of it. I loosen the spool tension, back off the anti backlash, and it makes no difference. I even put a set of boca-bearings in it. Other than that, the reel has never been completely disassembled and cleaned.

Thanks for subscribing and commenting! Yes I do have a reel repair business, though its a side-gig, not my main job. I'm not sure why it wouldn't cast well if you already replaced the bearings, especially with Boca's. If its never been cleaned before it certainly can help and maybe even fix your problem. It never seeing salt water is a BIG PLUS. The main issue now with these reels is that parts have gotten quite scarce, besides bearings. Question: Should the roller clutch bearing be dry for proper operation?

Absolutely. Any oil/grease will cause it to slip and malfunction. This is true for all one-way clutch bearings in all reels. Also getting the reel wet (such as dropping it overboard) can cause this as well, though it would function normally after it dries.

@@salahddinesaadi5926 I am not sure honestly what the issue is here. Is it that you can hold the spool with your thumb, and turn the handle, the spool stays stationary and the handle turns?

@@salahddinesaadi5926 something is not assembled correctly. It can be a variety of things. your drag stack both inside and outside the side plate could be out of order, or washers upside down. If your pinion gear is not aligned with the main drive gear, it will not turn the spool. If the pinion gear is not lifting and rising in alignment it will not turn the spool. Whatever it is, you did not assemble it correctly, otherwise it would function properly. My suggestion is to get the schematic, disassemble your reel, and use the schematic and this video to reassemble it properly. Orientation is important for all components. One washer being upside down can cause your reel to malfunction.

This CU-200 series just saved my ass man. THANK YOU! Was able to take it down and clean it and put her back together. It doesn’t look nearly as good as your but she works! One small disk and don’t know where it goes lol but the reel works! I’ll have to watch over and over or something! Didn’t see it the first two passes.
