Thanks for making it clear that the breaks are not magnetic in any way . I’ve watched countless curado videos and people are constantly talking about adjusting the magnets lol makes me want to ask if they’ve even really looked at the reel they’re “reviewing”

PappaSqually I’ve had a casitas for 10 months and thought there were magnetic brakes too for over half of it

THE REEL TEST it kills me it’s pretty simple to see that the side plate has 0 magnets so idk where this magnetic breaking would come from . I guess it’s true though that common sense isn’t so common anymore 🤦‍♂️

I’ve been telling my friends for years that the Citica is a workhorse and quite possibly the best value out there. I’ve picked them up on sale for $120....you can’t buy a better reel for that price!

I've always been a Daiwa guy. Have been forever. Shockingly, I had never owned a Shimano baitcaster.......until two weeks ago. I had decided that I wanted a Curado DC, but wanted to experience a lower end Shimano first. So, after months of hearing everyone rave about the SLX [including THE REEL TEST], i decided to drop the modest $139.99 CAD and see for myself. Color me impressed. A phenomenal option at he $100 price point. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I just purchased the Citica I online from Tackle Warehouse [it's on clearance] about 20 minutes ago. Of course I will continue to use and purchase Daiwa reels. There's probably nothing that will ever change that. But, I now understand the affinity that anglers have with Shimano reels. I get it. I think I've got the bug. Also, I just wanted to mention that this channel played a huge role in my decision to purchase both of these reels over the past couple weeks. If you ask me, these reel manufacturers should have you on payroll. Keep up the great work man, we appreciate it.

Hey bud I have a bunch of old Daiwa steez and steez sv so i took a old steez spool and prted to hopes to reduce weight then put it in my mico balancer and weights 6.9 grams and is fully balanced

I use 2 Curado I's on crankbait rods , recently had on both of them one of the red break arms pop off in the boat while i was adjusting on the fly. I am glad they give you extra arms. My gripe on all the external dials is for my bad eyes i cant see any number setting of how far i am adjusting the brass cone. I have to go by memory. I thought about taking a silver sharpie and highlighting the notches. I have to admit i put an extra lipless crank on my curado K and that reel just is in a different class than the Curado I still. Breaking , further casts and smoother. To be fair though I had 14# flouro and my K has 12# so that was part. Still the K was very noticeable better performing. Still love both.

i remember you have mentioned it before. I pretty much have to go by if i am adjusting downward or upward taking some breaking off. Some of my reels are still a little tough to turn , it did help after seeing your one video to loosen the back screw.

Thanks for the Citica review. I have a Citica I and Curado K, love them both. I think my next reel will be either a Chronarch mgl or Lews Custom pro. Which one would you suggest?

Nice video man. I have a question for you, do you recommend modifying a cheap reel like a Caenan 100 to get a little more life out of it? I'm taking about changing the handle, the knobs and maybe the bearings. Which brand of components would you recommend for such a task? I mean, buying ZPI stuff would mean to spend more than the actual value of the real, so what's a cheap but good option? Thanks man.

I would clean the bearings first, that should breath some new life in it. And if you really wanted a new handle and knobs, you can find alot of them for about $10 on Aliexpress. Complete to bolt on your Caenan. If your really want bearings, they have the $10 orange seal ceramics on Aliexpress too. So for about $20 you can definitely breath new life into the Caenan. I wouldnt spend too much more than that though.

@@THEREELTEST thanks bro. Speaking of cleaning the bearings, there's a video on KZbin, showcasing a Caenan by the way, saying that the guy cleaned the bearings using Zippo oil, is that correct? Or did he mean ZPI oil? Which degreaser or cleaner do you recommend? Thanks again.

Looking for a new reel.. Citica's are currently on clearance at TW for $125.. I also see the Curado K's go for $150-$160 on ebay.. Should I just shell out the extra $40 on the Curado K?

from using the K and Curado I on the water, my K casts further. I would say that should be the same result against the Citica

I feel like testing this against the Tatula CT would be a little more accurate. While I still think the Citica should perform better than any non-SV Tatula, it still feels a bit more 'fair'? The Tatula 100 is a brand new reel and the Citica is, what, three years old?

1. I dont have a bast tatula CT 2. There is only a $10 price difference between the Citica vs the Tatula 100, there is a $20 price diff between the base tatula CT vs Citica I

I fished the Curado and Citica E the most, they were my first ever Shimanos. Sure they were bulletproof but so was the I. I liked the brakes on the I better and it definitely had more power and smoother than the Es. The palm side plates on the E's flexed alot, never had that problem with the Curado I. I never had the Curado G but I have the Citica G and the only people who trash the Gs were people who never even fished them. Ill bet the Citica G can outcast most reels today. That reel is a sleeper. It definitely casted better than the Citica E and more solid as well, but it didnt palm as nice.

THE REEL TEST the I wasn’t even close to bullet proof always fixing internals on them! When you put the hundreds of hours on a reel then you can say you know that reel! I put it on both E and the I and the I always having some kind of problem and the E always keep on trucking

THE REEL TEST if you think the G can out cast most reels you think you know a reel by cast a few times! I bet you have never put hundred hours a a series reel? The G was worse piece of garage Shimano ever made!! I am a Shimano guy and only use Shimano and have fished ever series from back to the original Bantam and I mean fished well over hundred hours on each reel except for the G and sold all of them after about 30 hrs! So back to you I don’t think you fish them you just throw them so. Bulletproof you have no idea because you never fished a reel to see if it holds up
