SHIMANO CONQUEST BFS / SHIMANO CALCUTTA 50 COMPARISON

I have a shimano hercules Cx2-l. It has a lock button that completely locks the reel, so no line would come out. When you reel in with the handle, it starts making a clicking sound. What is that button for?

The brand for that reel is M&W, not Shimano. The spool lock is used when you snag the bottom and need to cut the line.

Hey mate love the videos, looking to get a bfs hg but can’t find one in my area or country so have to get one from Japan. Wanting the same size as you’ve got in the video, Just wondering is there only one size? Can’t seem to find anything about sizes. Cheers

So now almost a year later, how is the reel holding up in the salt? What type of fishing are you using it for? Your other videos is mostly about heavier fishing... Nice unboxing by the way

Actually, been doing well. I know it's a freshwater reel, but after using it, I just use a moistened microfiber rag to wipe it down.

Is this reel jdm ? How much 20 lb line of braid can it hold? I

not really for lines that high up actually, It's a Bait Finesse reel, honestly wouldn't load it up with anything more than 6lb mono and 8lb braid.

TheFishingKit thanks man great to know. Where I fish in New England is very rocky and 8 lb braid won’t hold very well with a blackfish. Awesome looking reel though

Is the bfs ok for saltwater?

I've been using mine only for saltwater and it's been fine really. Just make sure to rinse and clean it after each use, which should be standard anyway.

How about the line capacity if i use braid? Maybe 15 lbs test..

@@bongpahak IF you keep the spool stock, no issues. Holds a lot. If you are looking into getting this and use it as intended, which is finesse fishing, 15lb braid is kind of too much though. You might want to look at the Conquest 100 instead.

I want to use it for river salmon fishing that is why i am using a 15 lb or may little bit less. Thanks for the advice man.

The 50xt is a superior reel tbh

I think the 50XT is good, but for strictly BFS, it needs a lighter spool and better brakes.
