Thanks for the video. My friends & I use the little Shimano IX RD R2000 reel with the quick release & Eclipse Telescopic rods, we love them because they are small enough to put in our back packs. When we go fishing we use our motorcycles to get to more then one river or lake in the same day here in New Zealand. Thanks VERY much for the size comparison ... I wanted to see whether the 1000 vs. the 2000 were very different in size ... they are pretty much identical ... so for my telescopic fishing rod, the 2000 was the better choice for quality vs. the 1000.

Anime4 Mii I have a Sedona 2500 with braid on a 6’6 medium light Berkley lighting and a daiwa excellent 2500 HG with mono on a 7’6 light Fenwick HMG ... I have an extra 7’6 light Fenwick rod that I plan to pair with a 1000 size reel for trout fishing what reel do you suggest my budget is up to 250 ... I like both those reels I have probably the Sedona a little better but that may be because I have braid on it...

What kind of rod are most of you using with this reel? Light? Ultralight? Length?

Ultra-light, fast. I'd suggest 6 ft. or even a 7ft. ideal for small to medium ponds. Rivers & creeks, I'd drop rod length. 5'

I used a Shimano IX2000 or IX1000 and the very first time I used it, the drag thing on the bottom cracked and fell off, and the drag no longer worked after that. I tried fixing it, but it never worked again.

Just ordered one of these for my Ugly Stik Dock Runner, The reel that came with the Dock Runner is total crap ,backlash city anyway I heard alot of reviews on this Shimano so I got one.

9 years later and they are $13.99 at a local store. Farm and Fleet. IX1000, 2000 and 4000 all the same price. Great reels. My choice of anything on the market under $30.
